Purpose and objective

Ensure effective execution of tax accounting and compliance processes, supporting accurate tax reporting, timely tax filings, and adherence to local and international tax regulations. The role contributes to the Business Plan by safeguarding tax compliance, optimizing tax planning strategies, and ensuring alignment with internal controls and global tax policies. It adds value by mitigating tax risks, enhancing the reliability and transparency of fiscal information, and supporting informed decision-making for sustainable business operations. The position is responsible for overseeing tax accounting processes, managing tax reporting risks and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with tax authorities, and providing strategic tax advisory, including transfer pricing and mining and corporate income taxes. It also strengthens the organization’s tax position by improving tax efficiency, ensuring proper cash flow planning for tax obligations, and maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

This position will be based in the corporate office in Lima.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience for the role

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or equivalent professional qualifications.
  2. Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in a similar position, with strong expertise in Tax Compliance.
  3. Experience in a multinational, mining industry and/or with a Big 4 accounting firm.
  4. Significant post qualification studies are required.
  5. Specialization in Taxation, with solid knowledge of Peruvian and international taxation.
  6. Experience in tax planning.
  7. Demonstrated advanced proficiency in both spoken and written English will be mandatory.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Manage tax compliance team to ensure execution of tax accounting processes in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring operational discipline and strict compliance with internal tax accounting policies and controls for Glencore Copper Peru entities (including mining taxes and corporate income tax accounting, transfer pricing, tax returns, and tax filings).
  2. Analyze key tax and financial reports, manage monthly general ledger reconciliations to ensure tax information accuracy, and ensure tax risks are effectively managed and reported quarterly to the Group by GTC.
  3. Provide expertise in drafting tax compliance processes, laws, and guidelines at both local and international levels; deliver timely and strategic tax advice aligned with global tax policy.
  4. Ensure timely compliance with tax payment obligations and reporting requirements to tax authorities, incorporating disbursements into cash flow planning.
  5. Foster positive relationships through effective communication and provide constructive feedback to colleagues on a regular basis.
  6. Manage any tax authority enquiries and audits, supervision of ongoing tax litigations, coordination with tax compliance advisors related to preparation and submission of tax returns for the companies in Peru, ensuring compliance with the law and consistency with group TP policies in respect of Chile international taxes.
