Purpose and objective
Lead and standardize the mine planning strategy, ensuring the integration of operations and projects with the overall strategy. The position acts as a corporate technical reference in mine planning, promoting best practices, resource optimization, plan governance and strategic support for executive decision-making.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering (Civil Mining Engineer).
- Post graduate degree in Mine Planning, Geostatistics, or related field is advantageous.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in the mining industry.
- Solid experience in short, medium and long-term mine planning.
- Solid experience in open pit mining operations.
- Proven expertise in mine optimization techniques and methodologies.
- Corporate or multi-transaction experience is highly appreciated.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams
Qualifications and knowledge:
Technical Skills:
- Strong technical expertise in mine planning and planning across all planning horizons.
- Proficiency in mine planning software: Deswik (required), Whittle and Vulcan desirable.
- Solid knowledge of mine optimization, grade cutting strategy and mineral mixing.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret planning trends, identify risks and opportunities, and support corrective actions.
- Advanced English skills (written and spoken).

Key responsibilities of the role:
Strategic Planning and Governance:
- Lead the definition of corporate mine planning standards.
- Consolidate and review mining plans of the different operations.
- Ensure consistency between mine plans, plant capacity, infrastructure, and financial objectives.
- Participate in budgeting, strategic planning, and Life of Mine (LOM) processes.
- Develop corporate guidelines for sequencing, laws, mixing and use of equipment.
Optimization and Value Generation:
- Identify optimization opportunities in: mining sequence, fleets, productive capacity, asset utilization, mine costs
- Evaluate operational and strategic scenarios through simulations and sensitivity analysis.
Operational Integration:
- Coordinate the integration between: geology, mine planning, processing and finance.
- Ensure consistency between tactical and strategic plans.
- Provide technical support to operations in critical production deviations.
