Purpose of the role
The Governance and Assurance Principal South America is responsible for the hands-on execution of Supply Chain governance and assurance activities across all South America operations. Working under the Reporting Lead, the role conducts structured procurement assurance reviews, monitors compliance, supports the end-to-end implementation of the Contractor Management Framework, and drives corrective action across the region. The role is the operational arm of the governance and assurance function in South America, translating the governance framework defined by the Reporting Lead into day-to-day control activities that protect procurement integrity, ensure process compliance, and build control maturity across all South America sites.
The Governance and Assurance Principal operate across all South America, engaging directly with procurement, operations, and finance teams at site and regional level. The role supports the Global Reporting Lead in maintaining audit readiness and driving the Contractor Management Framework implementation across the region. It requires a rigorous, systematic approach to compliance combined with the practical ability to engage operational teams and drive change in complex, multi-site environments.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field (required)
- CIPS qualification or equivalent preferred
- Professional certification in internal audit or compliance (CIA, CISA, or equivalent) is an advantage
- Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain, Finance, or Governance is an advantage
Skills and Experience:
- 5-8 years in Supply Chain, Procurement, Inventory, or internal audit/compliance within complex organizations
- Demonstrated experience conducting procurement assurance or compliance reviews across multiple sites
- Background in internal controls, governance frameworks, or audit support
- Experience managing corrective action processes and supporting audit activities
- South American operations experience preferred; mining or extractive industries an advantage
Key Accountabilities:
Comply and enforce all internal company policies, and national and international regulations governing the mining industry's supply chain, leading by example. Responsible for ensuring that the entire work team knows and understands these policies and regulations, leading the solution of any situation that may arise from non-compliance.
- Procurement Assurance Execution — Conduct regular, structured assurance reviews of procurement processes, sourcing events, contract management, and inventory practices across all South America sites, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions to closure.
- CMF Implementation — South America — Support the Reporting Lead in the end-to-end implementation of the Contractor Management Framework across South America, ensuring training delivery, process adoption, and compliance at site level.
- CMF Ongoing Governance — Following implementation, conduct regular assurance reviews of CMF execution across South America, identifying deviations and driving corrective actions to ensure sustained compliance.
- Compliance Monitoring — Monitor day-to-day adherence to Supply Chain policies, procurement procedures, and ethical standards across South America, escalating non-compliance to the Global Reporting Lead.
- Audit Support & Coordination — Support internal and external audit activities related to Supply Chain in South America, preparing evidence packages, coordinating site access, and tracking closure of audit findings.
- Risk & Control Assessment — Identify and assess control weaknesses in South America Supply Chain processes, documenting risks and recommending improvements to strengthen the overall control environment.
- Corrective Action Management — Track and follow up on all assurance and audit findings across South America, ensuring corrective actions are implemented on time and that root causes are effectively addressed.
- Training & Compliance Awareness — Support the delivery of governance and compliance training across South America Supply Chain teams, promoting awareness of policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all levels.
- Reporting & Documentation — Prepare governance and assurance reports for the Global Reporting Lead, providing a clear and accurate view of compliance status, open findings, and control environment across South America.
- Continuous Improvement — Identify opportunities to strengthen governance processes, improve assurance methodologies, and increase compliance maturity across South America Supply Chain operations.
