Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline
- 15+ years’ experience in cost estimation within large-scale mining, industrial, or infrastructure projects
- Experience working for owner’s teams and/or EPC/EPCM organisations
Main Objective of the Job
The Estimating Manager is accountable for the development, governance, and delivery of high-quality capital cost estimates across the LATAM Major Projects portfolio. The role ensures estimates are aligned with project maturity, execution strategy, and investment decision requirements.
The role provides leadership, technical authority, and independent challenge over estimating practices from early concept studies through to execution-ready budgets.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the preparation, review, and validation of capital cost estimates across all project stages.
- Establish and maintain estimating standards, methodologies, and tools, incorporating benchmarking and lessons learned.
- Provide estimating leadership and guidance to project teams, contractors, and consultants.
- Ensure estimates appropriately reflect scope definition, execution strategy, market conditions, risk, and contingency.
- Support investment decision-making through estimate reviews, scenario analysis, and sensitivity assessments.
- Participate in independent reviews and post-investment evaluations, analysing cost outcomes and variances.
- Maintain estimating databases, cost breakdown structures (CBS), and estimate documentation.
- Promote continuous improvement, capability development, and consistency across estimating activities.
Experience / Skills
- Deep expertise in estimating methodologies and estimate classification
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Experience with estimating and project systems (e.g. Primavera, Ecosys, Prism, CCS, BIM tools)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
- English required; advance Spanish required
