About Glencore Capital Projects Group (CPG)
The Capital Projects Group (CPG) is Glencore’s dedicated organisation for developing and delivering selected major capital projects across its global Commodity Departments. Working within the Life of Asset (LOA) management process, CPG will typically begin supporting selected major projects post concept development when a project is gated to the pre-Feasibility stage (PFS entry). Collaborating deeply with the respective Commodity Department and regional team, CPG is able to shape, develop and execute, major projects from PFS onwards, into Feasibility and then Execution and handover, deploying organisation capability and project management expertise to achieve targeted outcomes safely and with predictable capital productivity.

 

Operating with agility and deep expertise, CPG will collaborate with each Commodity Department to develop fit for purpose delivery models that leverage and maximise regional capabilities and skills for each project that it either supports or is accountable for. Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications – Recognized/accredited degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplines
  • 10–15 years’ experience in a similar role, including construction management within the resources/industrial sector
  • Preferably with experience working for Owners or EPC/M companies
  • Desirable: Previous experience with major projects and/or project portfolio


Main objective of the role

The Site Manager is accountable for all activities at the construction site and ensures that construction is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to specifications and quality standards. The role involves coordinating the interface between the Owner’s team, EPC/EPCM, and contractors, ensuring alignment with the Capital Management Framework (CMF) and constructability requirements. The Site Manager also leads the implementation of prior-stage constructability efforts and promotes a strong ES&H culture through visible site leadership.


Operating context

The Site Manager operates as the field representative of the Project Director and is responsible for the effective implementation of all construction-related activities on-site. The role is embedded within the broader context of the Capital Projects Group and contributes to project execution from feasibility through to construction, commissioning, and handover. This includes leading the interface with EPC/EPCM contractors, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and enforcing construction execution strategies in line with project goals and Glencore’s governance frameworks.

Experience and skills

  • Extensive project construction management experience, especially in senior roles
  • Proven experience with both greenfield and brownfield mega-projects
  • Strong experience working in Owners’ organizations and with EPC/EPCM consultants
  • Excellent expertise in risk management and quantification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated success developing, leading, and motivating multicultural teams within large mining projects
  • In-depth knowledge of project controls, industrial relations, and contract delivery models (EPC, EPCM, Owners Integrated) and payment structures (lump sum turnkey, unit rates, reimbursable, GMP)
  • Ability to remain objective and collaborative when solving construction-related challenges
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, resilient
  • Proficient in Spanish and English (written and oral)


Key accountabilities

  1. Coordinate all jobsite activities involving contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and their representatives.
  2. Responsible for total site management including supervision of construction personnel, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, finance and accounting services, and craft resource personnel.
  3. Ensure execution and compliance with safety plans, environmental compliance plans, project automation plans, and other site strategies.
  4. Ensure the site team is composed of qualified and knowledgeable personnel and conduct regular performance reviews.
  5. Establish and implement construction schedules, methods, manpower plans, and material/equipment requirements.
  6. Control expenditures for labour, equipment, materials, and services to remain within budget.
  7. Ensure that construction operations align with engineering designs and specifications.
  8. Promote innovation and improvements in project construction techniques and strategies.
  9. Foster continuous improvement and lead constructability optimization initiatives across the site and portfolio.
  10. Train and coach project managers and personnel (internal and external) on constructability and CMF-aligned construction management practices.
