Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

Main Objective of the Position

The Project Manager will lead the Feasibility Study (FS) and Execution (EXE) phases of the critical processing upgrade and expansion project at MUMI.

The project is being developed on a fast-track timeline to have the solution implemented by 2027

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Postgraduate studies or certification in Project Management (PMP, Prince2) preferred
  • Solid understanding of cobalt processing and refining technologies

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in metallurgical or chemical processing projects
  • Proven experience delivering mid-scale plant FS and EXE phases, ideally within base metals sector
  • Familiarity with high-purity metal production standards and downstream refining
  • Experience working with EPCM teams and commissioning leadership

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine the scope, execution plan, and budget (~$200M) in accordance with LoA2026 objectives
  • Lead engineering design reviews, procurement planning, and construction readiness
  • Oversee EPCM interface, contractor performance, and commissioning activities
  • Manage fast-track schedule, risk profile, and project controls
  • Ensure project alignment with Glencore Capital Management Framework (CMF)
  • Coordinate with operations and downstream supply chain stakeholders for seamless integration
  • Maintain compliance with HSEand environmental regulations
  • Deliver robust reporting, governance documentation, and decision support throughout the project lifecycle

  • Deep knowledge of cobalt processing and electro-winning technologies
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder coordination abilities
  • Project budgeting, scheduling, and contract management
  • Quality assurance and commissioning planning expertise
  • Proficiency in project management software and risk control
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on delivery
  • Fluent in English (French is an asset)
