Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

MUMI is looking for a " Superintendent - Metallurgy Technical Services "

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Manager - Metallurgy Technical Services, the incumbent of this position will be responsible for the optimization of metallurgical processes, and the management of teams and equipment. He/sh will work collaboratively with the operations team to guide decision-making, evaluate metallurgical performance, and ensure operational efficiencies to safely achieve business objectives.

 

Minimum qualification

 

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in metallurgy or chemical engineering.

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mineral processing and copper and cobalt hydrometallurgy.
  • Control of continuous improvement processes and the change process

 

 

Required skills

 

  • Solid expertise in hydrometallurgy and mineral processing.
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Mastery of metallurgical simulation applications and software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others in the organization
  • Compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Supervise and train the metallurgical team.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and coaching to team members.
  • Manage the performance of direct reports and provide opportunities for growth and development.
  • Ensure the implementation of metallurgical processes in accordance with safety standards and company requirements
  • Develop long-term plans to meet the needs of the plant.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication within the team
  • Identify potential problems and propose solutions to improve the performance of operations.
  • Monitor operational performance and quality control of metallurgical products.
  • Benchmark processes against industry practices, identify gaps, and propose appropriate improvements to address gaps.
  • Manage incidents and security issues effectively.
  • Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
