Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the management and performance—both technical and tactical—of heavy mobile equipment as well as a wide range of other mobile equipment, including light vehicles, forklifts, mobile cranes, and more.

 

He/she will ensure the effective integration of all operational disciplines by rigorously applying established routines (daily, weekly, and monthly meetings), making optimal use of monitoring tools (such as 3W and CCC), accurately defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and effectively managing spare parts and components.

 

Minimum qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline related to maintenance or engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Strong experience in maintenance and asset management.
  • Relevant business qualification applied to the maintenance field (preferred asset).

 

Required Experience

 

  • Over 10 years of experience, with a proven track record of achievements, in the maintenance of heavy equipment in the mining industry at a senior-level position.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Optimize the maintenance of Mobile Equipment by ensuring the effective execution of the Maintenance Improvement Plan.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient execution of short-term maintenance plans (< 3 months) as well as planned shutdowns, through the coordination of short-term planners, maintenance engineers, and execution teams under your supervision.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the critical asset register and support long-term preservation strategies for Glencore’s copper assets.
  • Act as the first line of defense in risk management by effectively carrying out regulatory and preventive maintenance tasks, and by rigorously performing critical control verifications (CCVs).
  • Oversee the administration and entry of all maintenance data into the CMMS to ensure the integrity and reliability of information for budgeting, risk assessment, strategy optimization, and management cycles.
  • Lead the Mobile Equipment maintenance departments to achieve benchmark performance levels (availability, reliability, MTBF, etc.) as defined in global metrics reports.
  • Contribute to the company’s commercial and financial success and future growth by implementing maintenance and repair strategies aimed, among other objectives, at extending the lifespan of haul truck fleets and optimizing life cycle costs.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to the General Mine Manager, Operations Director, and other relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Manage all strategic partners contractually, in compliance with the company’s contract management framework.
  • Ensure compliance with Glencore’s environmental management requirements and procedures, as well as adherence to MUMI SARL’s environmental policy.
