Senior Project Scheduler

Glencore Copper is seeking a Senior Project Scheduler to support the growth and development of our Copper Portfolio to be based at our Maidenhead office in England. This role will support our projects and current operations in Africa.

In this role you will: 

  • The role is accountable for the project planning function across our assets in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in support to the Africa Project Controls Lead, as well as assisting PMO (Project Management Office) and the Regional Planning Manager.
  • This role is responsible for contributing to weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports to inform project leadership team with the status of the project.
  • The role is accountable for prepare, coordinate, and direct planning presentations to project senior management team as required.
  • The role needs to provide information that feeds in CMF, Steering Committee, and Investment Committee as and when required. The role will ensure the procedures and standards provided by the PMO will be thoroughly followed.


Experience

  • Proven experience with brownfield projects across entire lifecycle, from detailed engineering through commissioning, setting up project baselines and implementing updating and forecasting work cycles.
  • Proven experience setting up progress reporting systems for the various project phases: Engineering, Procurement, Construction, commissioning.
  • Extensive on hands experience using Microsoft Project and Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of earned value techniques. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to summarise large amount of data to convey specific messages to different stakeholders.
  • Ability to tie-in and consolidate with full logic multiple third-party schedules from consultants and contractors into the project master schedule for progress reporting and forecasting purposes.
  • Strong leadership, relationship building and influencing skills both including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Autonomous, self-motivated, highly proactive, and resilient attitude.
  • Business, facilitation, analytical, leadership/ management and negotiation capabilities.
  • Commercial and financial acumen.

Your training, skills & expertise checklist: 

  • Tertiary Qualifications – Engineering, Construction management, Project management and/or related disciplines.
  • 10+ years’ experience in planning roles within the resource or petrochemical industry; experience within construction companies will be a plus.
  • Certification from AACE, PRINCE II and/or PMI, or other related project management certification is favourable.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within the resources or petrochemical industry. Experience within mining and/or EPC/EPCM companies will be a plus.
  • Experience working in Africa would be advantageous.
  • English language skills. French would be advantageous.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
