Mutanda Mining "MUMI S.A.R.L" is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 57, Avenue Lusanga, Biashara District, Municipality of Dilala, City of Kolwezi. Its headquarters, center of its main activities, is located more or less 42km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo. "MUMI S.A.R.L" is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydro-metallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant. MUMI is recruiting a: " Mining Survey Superintendent "

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Mining Technical Services Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for leading the team of mining surveyors and managing all activities related to survey to ensure efficient and safe mining operations, in accordance with Glencore’s requirements and MUMI SARL’s safety standards.

 

Minimum qualification

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in geomatics, geological sciences or a similar field.

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an open-pit mine, with three (3) years of experience desired in a similar environment.
  • Good understanding of geomatics requirements according to the regulations on Hygiene, Health, and Safety at Work.

 

Required skills

 

  • Leadership skills and a safety-first approach to work.
  • Intercultural, verbal and written communication in French and English.
  • Skills in Geovia Surpac, use of drones, laser scanning and DGPS surveys.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets, presentation software, word processing and databases.
  • Be able to drive.
  • Excellent command of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all on-site surveying operations to ensure the mine's objectives are met.
  • Produce mine plans for regulatory submissions.
  • Maintain the overall model by ensuring that the surveying team captures accurate and consistent information.
  • Manage the department's budget and the procurement of surveying equipment.
  • Ensure permanent communication with topographers.
  • Assist with topography tasks in the open pit and construction.
  • Lead innovation and mining technology initiatives in surveying.
  • Ensure that all surveying equipment is maintained to a high standard, adhering to the required calibration and adjustment parameters.
  • Comply with the safety policy including visible leadership, rescue rules, as well as hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
