Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Reporting directly to the Manager: Production UG Mining , the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and compliant underground mining operations, ensuring the rigorous application of HSEC standards and controlling operational risks. He/she will support the planning and execution of mining activities in accordance with production targets and quality requirements, while optimizing costs. He/she will mentor teams, develop their technical skills and leadership, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. He/she will also play a key role in the strategic alignment of resources and compliance with governance policies. Finally, he/she will actively contribute to the overall performance of the mine through his/her technical expertise and positive influence on operations.
He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by adopting a safety leadership posture . This includes proactively identifying hazards, implementing corrective measures, and promoting exemplary safety behaviors. It also includes overseeing the application of HSE procedures, training staff and subcontractors, and monitoring current regulatory standards.
- Implement and ensure compliance with standard working procedures for all underground mining operations . This includes assessing task-specific risks, validating safe systems of work, and ensuring operator competency is adequate. This includes checking protective equipment, conducting safety briefings, and rigorously monitoring operational compliance.
- Ensure control of technical, organizational, or environmental changes using structured assessment processes. This includes identifying, analyzing, and quantifying risks associated with new procedures, equipment, or working conditions. It also includes coordinating preventive measures, communicating changes to teams, and documenting adjustments made.
- Actively participate in internal and external audits related to safety, environment, and operational performance. This includes identifying non-conformities, proposing practical solutions, and promptly implementing corrective actions. This also includes monitoring closure deadlines, documenting evidence of compliance, and updating procedures as needed.
- Oversee the financial management of its scope while respecting the company's budgeting, forecasting and cost control policies . This includes developing the operational budget, monitoring expenditure variances and analyzing optimization levers. This includes seeking cost reduction opportunities, justifying expenditures and meeting monthly reporting deadlines .
- Supervise technical and operational team members with a view to continuous professional development. This includes identifying training needs, implementing capacity building programs, and providing personalized support to supervisors. This also includes on-the-job coaching, setting individual objectives, and monitoring progress through performance indicators.
- Foster transparent, respectful, and constructive communication between the organization's various stakeholders . This includes clearly communicating priorities, expectations, and results. This includes exemplary behavior, adherence to the Code of Conduct, and maintaining ethical professional relationships with internal and external partners.
- Translate the company's overall objectives into concrete actions on the ground for the mining team . This includes planning, coordinating, and monitoring the execution of tasks according to the production schedule. This includes raising team awareness of the importance of their roles, prioritizing critical activities, and continuously adjusting operations based on performance indicators.
- Coordinate weekly and monthly planning of underground mining operations. This includes developing drilling, blasting, support, and ore transportation plans. This includes managing human and material resources, anticipating equipment constraints, and using Short Interval Control to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Foster a culture of excellence and innovation in mining practices. This includes identifying areas for technical improvement, implementing innovative solutions, and using production data to guide decisions. It also includes tracking skills, evaluating operational performance, and collaborating with other departments to maximize the value created by the company.
