Job description.

 

 

Reporting to the General Manager of Asset, Reliability, Engineering and Governance, the position holder will be responsible for the overall operation of the automation and OT systems on the KCC site. This includes the overall maintenance and reliability of instrumentation and control systems of fixed installations and the mobile fleet. This role manages plant measurement technologies, structural and program changes to control systems, and minimizes system-related production threats.

 

His responsibilities will include, among other things (non-exhaustive):

 

•    Oversee and govern the maintenance and reliability of plant instrumentation, PLC and SCADA systems to minimize impact on production and downtime.
•    Monitor the performance of instruments and DCS/PLC systems and ensure that they are operating in accordance with the needs of the process plant and providing the required reliability, accuracy and availability.
•    Provide communication between modular mining and processing automation systems and the broader operational technology software and hardware infrastructure.
•    Monitor the performance of mobile fleet instruments and PLC systems and ensure that they are operating in accordance with transportation and loading, drilling and road maintenance needs and that they provide the required reliability and availability.
•    Oversee the availability, reliability and management of the Mining Data Mesh network.
•    Manage instrumentation and control system reliability risks such as obsolescence.
•    Ensure appropriate maintenance regimes are in place, spare parts levels are monitored and control systems contracts are managed.
•    Develop, maintain and improve standards, procedures and system manuals for plant instrumentation, operational technology hardware and software.
•    Guide and develop engineers and superintendents in best practices, control techniques and methodologies.
•    Oversee and manage application upgrades and lifecycle of all OT systems.
•    Manage the deployment of OT technology within business units.
•    Oversee strategy, daily execution and routine improvements of instrumentation and control systems.
•    Develop training matrices for automation teams.

 


Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

•    Hold a degree in engineering, electronics, electricity or a related engineering discipline.
•    Have a professional background of at least 10 years of experience in the management and maintenance of complex plant control systems (Mining and mineral processing environment).
•    Experience in leadership, technical guidance and motivation of instrumentation and control engineers.
•    Mastery of English is indispensable
•    The following certifications are assets for the candidate himself: PLC programming, Data and network communication, Lean Six Sigma, Project management
•    Hold a job seeker card (ONEM).

 

Technical skills.

 

•    Strong understanding of field instrumentation devices, network protocols and control systems.
•    Knowledge of Siemens Automation and control systems is an added advantage.
•    Knowledge of advanced process control system techniques and concepts.
•    Extensive experience in DCS/PLC programming and exposure to PLC control protocols.
•    Experience in system configuration and safety-related control and production systems
•    Knowledge of data communications and networking protocols with field sensors
•    Experience with change management (MoC) processes and their implementation in an operational technology environment
•    Experience in supplier and project management
