 Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Job Description

 

Under the direct supervision of Safety Coordinator, the role of the incumbent will be to ensure hygiene and health at work by conducting inspections, identifying risks and non-conformities, and proposing solutions. He/she will also have to support employees in the implementation of safety rules, evaluate the effectiveness of training, contribute to the improvement of the safety management system and ensure accurate and regular reporting on incidents and observations.

 

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Maintaining a safe working environment : This includes conducting daily health and safety inspections, identifying non-conformities and suggesting corrective interventions.
  • Ensuring the correct use of safety equipment : This includes ensuring that work procedures are suitable and effective to achieve safety objectives.
  • Supporting employee implementation of health and safety : This includes ensuring employees understand work rules and are able to implement them, identifying constraints that prevent employees from working safely and providing solutions or escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Training employees in health and safety : This includes evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, including assessing field application, knowledge and awareness.
  • Contribute to the health and safety management system : This includes participating in the high risk work verification process and the critical controls verification process.
  • Health and Safety reporting system : This includes managing daily, weekly and monthly reporting requirements and providing clear and accurate information for Power BI and Enablon reports .
  • Identify opportunities for improving occupational risk management and application of safety knowledge: This includes liaising with a range of people, including site personnel, as part of the workplace health and safety assessment.

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Hold a university degree in a field of life sciences (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, environmental sciences, etc. ), medical sciences (medicine, public health, toxicology, etc.) or a related field.
  • Have three (3) years of professional experience in occupational health and safety. Experience in the mining sector would be a considerable advantage.
  • Hold a recognized professional certificate in the field of occupational health and safety (an advantage).
  • Have a perfect command of the laws, policies and procedures in force regarding health and safety at work.
  • Hold a job seeker's card.

 

Technical skills.

 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to gain the trust and cooperation of all staff.
  • Analytical approach to work and great attention to detail.
  • Able to solve problems and work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to persuade others to achieve results and initiate action.
  • Operational decision-making capabilities.
  • Understanding of practical conditions in the industry and the ability to apply viable solutions.
  • Good understanding of health and safety best practices.
  • Be comfortable with IT tools used for security management (risk management software, databases, etc.).
