 Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Job Description

 

 

Reporting to the General Manager of Mine Technical Services , the role of the incumbent will be to ensure that high quality technical work is completed on time and delivered to other departments and management. He/she will be required to create an environment within the department to enhance the work of the mine planning and geology teams, as well as communication, safety, production and technical capabilities.

 

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):


 
•    Ensure the management of the Technical Services department of the Open Pit Mine.
•    Demonstrate leadership in adhering to company policies and procedures, as well as safety standards.
•    Make decisions regarding all aspects of the department.
•    Coordinate all activities of the short and medium term planning teams of the open pit mine within the Technical Services department.
•    Review and approve all plans and drawings produced in the department, including those of the mine planning and geology teams.
•    Work directly with underground mine operational managers to implement plans.
•    Identify strategies to overcome challenges and obstacles, and minimize risks.
•    Maintain and maintain close relationships with the metallurgy teams to provide suitable ore mixes for processing.
•    Prepare, review and comply with the department's four-year budgets.
•    Prepare, review and comply with the short-term mining plan for the open pit mine.
•    Prepare and review performance indicators for ore control in the underground mine.
•    Provide supervision to department staff.
•    Ensure that each department's responsibilities and key performance indicators are in line with Glencore and KCC standards.
•    Establish the organizational structure of the department to ensure adequate coverage in all areas and for various operational scenarios.
•    Provide direct supervision to senior management in mine planning and geology.
•    Provide mentoring to national staff.

 

Job Requirements 


Qualifications and experience

 

 

•    Have a university degree in mining Civil Engineering or a similar field.
•    Have at least 10 years of experience in the mining sector, both in operational and engineering roles, with at least 5 years at a senior hierarchical level.
•    Experience in surface mining is essential.
•    Have proven knowledge in the fields of Geotechnics and Geology.
•    Working knowledge and ability to communicate properly in French and English is required. Knowledge of Swahili will be considered an asset.   
•    Have an ONEM card.

 

Technical skills.

 

•    Have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
•    Possess strong analytical skills on detailed and complex mining scenarios.
•    Mine Planning : Proficiency in geological modeling software (such as Surpac , Datamine , or Vulcan ) is essential for creating terrain models, simulating mining processes, and optimizing production plans.
•    Mining Production Management and Resource Optimization : The ability to analyze and optimize extraction plans to maximize operational efficiency while minimizing costs and environmental risks is crucial.
•    Material and Resource Flow Management : The ability to plan and coordinate material flows, including aspects related to storage, transportation and supply of materials needed for mining operations, is essential to maintain smooth and efficient production.
