He/she will spend the majority of his/her field work time at checkpoints, patrol areas and operational locations to monitor personnel, equipment, discipline, compliance and responsiveness. As an entry point into the operational hierarchy, this role provides hands-on exposure, coaching and development to progress to supervisory functions.

He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

•    Verify Field Operations and Active Presence: This includes spending most of the shift in the field to ensure that the supervisor's deployment instructions are being carried out at the various posts, checkpoints, patrol areas, and assigned locations. It also includes conducting regular physical checks for presence, alertness, conduct, knowledge of instructions, and wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE), while immediately reporting material deviations to the FOB supervisor.

•    Ensure readiness, equipment, and FOB standards: This includes conducting FOB operational readiness checks covering vehicles, radios, protective equipment, non-lethal equipment, K9 units, keys, and access control equipment as directed by the supervisor. This includes immediately reporting any unsecured, missing, damaged, or defective equipment and ensuring that such anomalies are logged and contained through the approved process.
•    Control KCC's critical assets, access, and patrols: This includes conducting frequent physical checks of guarded posts, KCC's critical assets, and access control points to verify discipline, compliance with procedures, and accuracy of records. This includes ensuring that patrols planned or triggered by the Security Operations Center (SOC) are effectively dispatched, executed on the correct routes, and properly documented.
•    Support training, coaching and personal development: This includes assisting the supervisor to deliver classroom training, toolbox talks and practical field exercises during on-call or training periods. This includes identifying skills gaps in staff to help address them, while actively developing their own supervisory capabilities with a view to progressing to the position of FOB Supervisor.
•    Overseeing the 12-hour rotation and field discipline : This includes verifying the execution of the FOB regime in three 12-hour shifts, consisting of approximately 4 hours of on-call duty, 4 hours of duty for drills/interventions, and 4 hours of planned or intelligence-guided patrols. This includes confirming that rotations are being conducted as instructed, that required positions remain covered, and reporting exceptions to discipline or preparedness.
•    Manage SOC communications, reporting, and incident support: This includes maintaining effective radio communication with the supervisor and SOC to provide accurate reporting during patrols, checks, incidents, and interventions. This includes rigorously recording field observations, anomalies, and corrective actions using logs or approved reporting systems, ensuring a smooth transition during handovers.
•    Ensure safety, good conduct and accountability: This includes observing the operational conduct of PSPs and PSFs in the field to immediately report any unsafe behaviour, poor discipline, inaccurate reporting or potential concerns related to the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR). This includes challenging unsafe acts within one's authority, protecting the safety of the team and enforcing strict personal responsibility for all checks and reports carried out.
•    Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders: This includes working closely with the FOB Supervisor, FOB Superintendent, SOC, Administration, HSE departments, training, as well as mining and processing operations. This also includes interacting effectively with assigned public safety vendors, public safety forces, and emergency services when operational coordination requires it.
•    Maintaining the quality of decisions and resilience in the face of demanding conditions: This includes using direct observation, procedures, and good judgment to quickly identify problems and take appropriate action within the limits of one's authority. This includes demonstrating resilience by maintaining discipline and composure during field operations, incidents, night work, and in demanding working conditions.
