Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the supervision of the Senior Supervisor: Underground Mine Control, the incumbent ensures the day-to-day supervision of the control room activities. He/she coordinates the Mine Control Technicians on shift, monitors the execution of the daily plan, applies dispatching tactics, monitors the proper functioning of the systems, guarantees the quality of data and reports, and ensures smooth communication with the field teams and support departments. He/she ensures compliance with safety standards and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the control room. This includes leading Mine Control Shift Technicians, organizing operational priorities, ensuring the continuity of underground operations, and ensuring effective and documented shift shifts.
- Ensure real-time monitoring of the production plan. This includes monitoring the execution of the daily plan, identifying deviations, adjusting operational sequences in coordination with field teams, and informing management of any significant deviations.
- Apply dispatching tactics. This includes using dispatch tools to optimize equipment utilization, improve productivity, meet blending parameters, and reduce operational losses.
- To control the proper functioning of Mine Control systems. This includes monitoring communication, fleet tracking, and production systems, reporting anomalies, initiating corrective actions, and collaborating with system technicians.
- Ensure safe operations from the control room. This includes monitoring security alarms, enforcing emergency procedures, reporting incidents, and supporting HSE teams during investigations.
- Ensure data quality and integrity. This includes verifying the accuracy of production, equipment, and location data, correcting identified errors, and ensuring reliable operational reporting.
- Produce and validate operational reports. This includes compiling daily and weekly reports on production, equipment availability and team performance, and transmitting them to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal departments. This includes interacting with Operations, Planning, Backfill, Ventilation and Maintenance to ensure the alignment of activities and the completion of the mine plan.
- Mentor and develop Mine Control Technicians. This includes training new technicians, providing on-the-job coaching, evaluating individual performance, and identifying training needs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives. This includes participating in performance analysis, proposing improvements to Mine Control processes and contributing to operational optimization projects.
