Job description.

Under the direct supervision of the Milling Mechanical Superintendent , the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and directing mechanical maintenance activities in the grinding sector to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of production equipment. He/She will ensure the safe and efficient execution of maintenance work, respecting operational priorities, procedures, and quality standards. The position will also involve managing maintenance teams, identifying mechanical problems, and implementing actions to reduce downtime and improve equipment lifespan. In collaboration with the planning, maintenance, and operations teams, he/she will contribute to the continuous improvement of the grinding plant's performance.

His/Her responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environment and quality requirements includes leading safety talks, monitoring the application of work permits, lockout/tagout procedures, the wearing of personal protective equipment, as well as compliance with environmental requirements and company standards.
  • Supervising the mechanical maintenance activities of the crushing plants includes coordinating preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance work, managing maintenance teams and monitoring the execution of interventions in compliance with deadlines, costs and quality requirements.
  • Planning and coordinating maintenance interventions includes collaborating with planning, operations, and other supervisors to establish effective maintenance programs, set priorities, and ensure optimal use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS/AMT).
  • To manage and develop maintenance teams includes supervising team leaders and technicians, developing their skills, providing ongoing training, evaluating performance, and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Optimizing equipment reliability and availability includes proactively identifying failures, analyzing the causes of breakdowns, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and proposing improvements to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Developing and implementing maintenance procedures includes preparing operating procedures, validating them with management, communicating them to teams, and monitoring their application to ensure safe, efficient interventions that comply with quality standards.
  • Ensuring performance monitoring and activity reporting includes preparing technical reports, monitoring performance indicators, regularly communicating progress to the Superintendent , and reporting risks, constraints, and recommendations.
  • Managing the technical resources required for maintenance work includes the efficient organization of staff, the management of tools, consumables and spare parts, as well as the identification of needs to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Controlling the quality of maintenance interventions includes verifying the conformity of the work carried out, inspecting equipment after intervention, respecting technical standards, and implementing the actions necessary to improve the quality of services.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of maintenance performance includes identifying opportunities for improvement, proposing technical innovations, sharing best practices and collaborating with various stakeholders to increase the reliability, safety and performance of facilities.

 

Job requirements.

Qualifications and experience.

  • Have an Engineering degree (A0) or a Graduate degree (A1) in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or in an equivalent discipline.
  • Have three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience in a similar position in industrial mechanical maintenance, with practical experience in mill maintenance.
  • Have experience supervising maintenance teams in an industrial or mining environment.
  • Having experience in the maintenance of crushing plants, fixed plants or heavy industrial equipment is an asset.

 

Technical skills.

  • Have a thorough knowledge of autogenous (AG) and semi-autogenous (SAG) mills and their main mechanical systems.
  • To be able to identify, analyze and solve mechanical problems affecting industrial equipment.
  • Possess a good knowledge of the maintenance of fixed equipment and installations.
  • Have a good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Mastering the principles of preventive and corrective maintenance as well as techniques for improving equipment reliability.
  • Having a good command of CMMS/GMAO, particularly the AMT system, for monitoring and managing maintenance activities.
  • To be able to read and interpret industrial and mechanical plans and drawings.
  • Possess a good knowledge of tooling, consumables and spare parts management.
  • Having a good command of computer tools, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Have a practical knowledge of technical English, both spoken and written.
  • Have a good knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and HSE requirements applicable to industrial maintenance work.
