 Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

As a member of KCC's Transformation Management Office within the Integrated Operations Division , the incumbent will be responsible for leading the identification, planning and coordination of a set of related projects within a program, and a group of different programs within a portfolio, to manage their interdependencies in support of the business strategies and specific objectives of the major strategic programs of integrated operations within a portfolio. You will also maintain a strategic view across projects, programs and portfolio, providing the framework for implementing business initiatives or large-scale changes, and communicating the vision for program/portfolio outcomes and associated benefits.

 

Under the direct supervision of the TMO Manager , the incumbent will be responsible for developing and leading complex change initiatives.

 

His responsibilities will include, among other things (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Ensure alignment of portfolios and programs with business strategy, through strategic and/or periodic planning and reviews and establish effective governance for portfolios and programs.
  • Define, with key stakeholders, the scope of work, cost/budget, required resources, schedule and detailed breakdown of work for projects within programs and portfolio.
  • Proactively collaborate with key business and integrated operations stakeholders to create an environment of continuous improvement and support a continuous change program aimed at improving KCC's efficiencies, processes and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish cost/benefit analysis of global, regional or/and asset OE&T initiatives and other programs within the Integrated Planning division.
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring and tracking of deliverables throughout the life cycle of the program(s) and portfolio. Coordinate, as a portfolio manager, across programs to ensure business initiatives remain on track and KCC meets its overall strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate and prioritize program tasks, manage deadlines, maintain program plans, and communicate status to key stakeholders.
  • Effectively organize, monitor and control activities to ensure planned milestones are achieved and available resources are used efficiently.
  • Monitor and report on the status of the program(s) and manage the budget and all financial elements associated with the program(s) and portfolio.
  • Develop and communicate status updates as well as strategic changes. Identify risks and issues in programs and portfolios that affect the achievement of strategic objectives and business benefits and contribute to the improvement of policies, standards and processes.
  • Serve as key contact for program and portfolio stakeholders, and escalation point for project/program/portfolio issues. Communicate appropriate information effectively and quickly to stakeholders to achieve the desired understanding and support, while managing expectations and relationships and ensuring that
  • Coordinate resources allocated to the portfolio, program and projects within the program, defining key guidelines and motivating and monitoring internal and/or external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones.
  • Assign responsibilities and/or work packages, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Set performance targets and monitor progress against agreed quality and performance criteria. Provide feedback and effective coaching to TMO Coordinators and other team members within the project environment.
  • Proactively ensure effective working relationships within the team and with those with whom the team interacts.
  • Provide advice or support to temporary work teams, guiding and monitoring task completion, sharing expert knowledge and advice without assuming line responsibility.

 

Job requirements.

 

 Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Hold a university degree in Mining, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Geology, Mineral Resources Management or Operational Management. A postgraduate degree in program and project management will be a considerable advantage.
  • Have at least 8 years of experience managing projects and/or programs or exhibitions in corporate or business environments
  • Have at least 5 years' experience in management/direction of a department of versatile professionals.
  • A certification in project management (PMP or Prince II) is mandatory. Certifications in change management in agile project management or ISO 9001: 2015 will be advantages.
