Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

The role of the incumbent will be to lead a team of technical support specialists for the development of the skills of underground mine personnel, in particular operators. It will be expected to identify knowledge gaps, design training programs, and implement a field-based coaching model to improve operational practices. The main goal is to ensure safe and efficient underground mining operations by developing highly skilled operators.
He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Coordinate a technical support team. This includes leading and supervising a team of specialists to train, mentor and evaluate underground mine operators on various equipment. This is to ensure that the technical support team is effective in its role and that its members are continuously trained themselves.
- Develop the skills of operators. This includes identifying knowledge and skills gaps for mine operators and designing specific training programs to address them. The goal is to hone the team's skills to achieve world-class operational standards, focusing on lateral development, production, support, and loading and hauling equipment gear.
- Implement a field-based coaching model. This includes applying a hands-on, on-the-job coaching model to transfer knowledge and skills to operators. It's about leading by example, showing best practices, and ensuring mentors can support and sustain operational excellence autonomously.
- Ensure safety and operational excellence. This includes instilling a culture of safety and discipline in the workplace, ensuring that standard work procedures and safety systems are understood and applied. The aim is to participate in safety inspections and to quickly address the risks and dangers identified.
- Oversee performance management. This includes establishing clear performance indicators (KPIs), measuring team performance, and providing regular constructive feedback. It also involves tracking and monitoring continuous improvement focused on safety, operability, reliability, and cost reduction.
- Develop training materials. This includes developing and updating relevant and effective training materials for skills development programs. It involves working with trainers to fill systemic skills gaps identified within teams.
- Provide strategic advice to management. This includes advising management on corrective actions needed to improve business practices and proactively intervening to implement these actions. The role is to enable the hierarchy line to produce safe and efficient results.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement. This includes encouraging and supporting operators to take ownership of business plans and outcomes. The role is to guide teams to anticipate problems and continuously improve processes to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Manage compliance and reporting. This includes documenting and reporting on performance, identifying and correcting deviations from the plan, and adhering to company policies. The role is to ensure that all activities comply with company standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders. This includes building strong relationships with mining operations peers, maintenance departments, safety and training services. The role is to ensure that employee coaching and development are aligned with the company's operational commitments.
