Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the direct supervision of the Manager Underground Mine Planning & Studies, the role of the incumbent will be to drive medium-term mine planning in order to translate the mine's strategic objectives into realistic, safe and executable production plans. He/She will lead a team of specialists responsible for developing, optimizing and maintaining mine plans and programs taking into account operational, geological, geotechnical, hydrological, ventilation and backfill constraints. This role is key to improving production predictability, optimizing resources and controlling the discrepancies between plans and execution. The incumbent will work closely with Mining Operations, Technical Services and Projects to ensure that plans provide a solid basis for operational execution, while meeting safety, production and cost objectives
He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Ensure compliance (Health, Safety, Environment): Integrate HSE requirements into medium-term plans, identify risks related to operating sequences and promote a strong safety culture. Plans must be technically feasible without compromising standards.
- Develop and optimize mine plans : Prepare and update medium-term mine plans, define mining sequences and plan production/development fronts in alignment with the overall strategy.
- Translate strategic objectives into operations : Transform long-term plan directions into executable activities, sequences and timelines by managing transitions and constraints with operational teams.
- Optimize sequencing and resource allocation : Analyze sequencing options to maximize ore recovery, equipment availability, and infrastructure utilization in the face of terrain constraints.
- Coordinate the preparation of future fronts : Plan the needs in development, ventilation, drainage, backfilling and infrastructure in collaboration with business experts (Geology, Geotechnics, etc.) to anticipate the technical prerequisites.
- Oversee performance analysis : Track performance against plan, analyze variances (planned vs. realized), identify root causes, and deploy corrective actions.
- Lead and develop the team : Set goals, technically coach, mentor and develop the skills of planners to maintain a high level of quality and continuous improvement.
- Manage interdepartmental interfaces : Structure collaboration with Operations, Technical Services, Geology, Maintenance, etc., to ensure that all data and assumptions are integrated into the plans.
- Ensure technical excellence : Verify the quality of the designs, sequences, and assumptions used to ensure that deliverables meet company standards and are actionable.
- Ensure reporting and continuous improvement : Produce regular reports on the status of plans and risks, make mining model data reliable and make optimization recommendations.
