Job description.
Under the direct supervision of the Administration & Investigation Manager , the post holder will ensure the supervision and Managing the development, implementation and continuous improvement of loss prevention strategies in mining operations. He/She will ensure the protection of company assets, personnel and operations against theft, fraud, accidents, environmental risks and other security threats. He/She will work closely with the various departments to identify potential risks , propose mitigation measures and ensure compliance with safety and security regulations, with the aim of minimizing financial losses.
He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
• Design programs covering security, theft prevention and risk management; implement appropriate policies; integrate new technologies; train staff and conduct regular vulnerability assessments.
• Analyze incidents, recommend improvements, ensure the operation of surveillance systems (CCTV, access control, alarms), conduct regular inspections, check inventories, follow up on incident reports and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with local and international laws (safety, environment, security), monitor legal developments, and collaborate with the legal department in cases of fraud, theft or non-compliance.
• Work closely with Operations, Security, Purchasing, Finance, IT and HSE teams; be the main contact for regulators, auditors and service providers related to loss prevention.
• Establish a culture of continuous improvement, adapt strategies to emerging risks, develop targeted training, and support the security team's skills development.
• Develop rapid response mechanisms, develop contingency plans with HSE and Safety teams, and regularly organize asset recovery simulations and exercises.
• Coach and motivate the team, provide professional development opportunities, align team goals with those of the company, and ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
• Document each event accurately, follow up on corrective actions, and communicate any threats or alerts to management in a timely manner.
• Develop and deliver awareness programs tailored to each level of responsibility, with emphasis on loss prevention, risk detection and operational security.
Job requirements .
Qualifications and experience.
• Hold a university degree in law, criminology, or a related field.
• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in loss prevention or security management in the mining industry or other high-risk environments.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role or supervision of security teams.
• Extensive expertise in risk assessment, emergency response and crisis management.
Technical skills.
• reporting tools : Power BI, Tableau, SQL, SAP, Pronto and other data analysis software.
• Asset tracking technologies : RFID, GPS tracking, digital surveillance and predictive maintenance tools.
• Security management systems : integration of video surveillance (CCTV), access control and forensic investigation techniques.
• Data Analytics and Automation : Experience using artificial intelligence and machine learning for asset tracking.
• Fluency in English. Fluency in French or Swahili would be an advantage.
