Job description.
Reporting directly to the Asset Protection Operations Manager , the incumbent will be responsible for leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of strategic asset protection initiatives within mining operations. He/She will oversee the analysis of threats, vulnerabilities and loss trends, in order to design proactive measures to protect people, property, equipment and company resources.
He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
• Develop and implement asset protection strategies : Design strategies to protect materials, equipment, infrastructure and personnel.
• Assess threats and risks : Conduct in-depth risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Safety Planning : Develop specific safety plans, protocols and procedures that comply with company standards and mining regulations.
• Analyze Data and Reports : Review incident reports and loss trends to support strategic decisions and improve processes.
• Collaborate with departments : Work with operations, logistics, IT and legal teams to align asset protection initiatives with business objectives.
• Optimize security technologies : Recommend and integrate security technologies such as video surveillance, tracking tools, and access control.
• Ensure compliance and enforcement of policies : Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory security standards in all strategies and plans.
• Manage Budgets and Resources : Oversee budgets and allocate resources to support asset protection programs and capital projects.
• Train and raise awareness among staff : Provide ongoing training to staff to ensure compliance with asset protection protocols and support major incident investigations.
Job requirements .
Qualifications and experience.
• Hold a university degree in law, business administration, criminology, industrial engineering, mining, or a related field.
• Have a minimum of 8 years of experience in asset protection analysis, strategy and planning or security management in the mining industry or other high-risk environments
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role or supervision of security teams.
Technical skills.
• Asset Protection and Loss Prevention : Managing risks and implementing security strategies to protect assets and reduce losses.
• Security Risk Assessment and Management : Analyzing threats and implementing measures to manage associated security risks.
• Security Technologies and Systems Integration : Use and optimization of security technologies, such as surveillance and access control systems.
• Incident and Crisis Management : Rapid response and effective management of emergency situations to minimize impacts on operations.
• Data Analysis and Compliance : Monitoring security system performance, generating reports and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
• Leadership and Collaboration : Coaching security teams, problem-solving, and inter-departmental collaboration to achieve organizational goals.
• Fluency in English. Fluency in French or Swahili would be an advantage.
