Job description.
Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Operational Excellence and Technology – Support Services, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the KCC operational excellence and technological strategy across the Support Functions (G&A) of KCC. He/She will actively engage and collaborate with the supply chain, finance, HR, HSE and the Organisational Transformation departments to identify, plan, execute and report on the progress of operational excellence initiatives within their area of responsibility. While coordinating continuous improvement and technology transformation initiatives across the G&A functions, the incumbent will analyze business process performance, derive critical insights, lead optimization projects, and support managers in developing a culture of excellence.
He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
• Execute the required functions within the on-site Operational Performance Centre (OPC) as per direction from Superintendent.
• Statistical analysis of Operational Performance to establish initiative KPI baselines and improvement targets.
• Conduct Benchmark studies to define and implement “Best-in-Class’ performance improvements.
• Govern the Operational Excellence pipeline in line with the KCC OE&T Framework.
• Support the execution of technology and digitalisation initiatives.
• Participate in the preparation of the monthly OE&T site report for KCC, reporting on progress and benefit realization of the KCC Improvement Portfolio to both asset and regional level.
• Support departmental line managers, superintendents and supervisors in managing and improving process stability.
• Drive, grow and deliver the G&A improvement pipeline within the respective departmental functions (HR, SCM, HSE, IT, etc.) to improve operational capability on site working all team members at all levels.
• Support & actively participate in the design, re-engineering and innovation of operating models & philosophies aimed at creating long term value, promote sustainability and de-risking / debottlenecking of business and operational processes.
• Develop appropriate OE&T processes and procedures.
• Ensure the required Governance (Management of Change (MoC) and Change management processes) are effectively applied and adhered to, to ensure all risks associated with a proposed change are identified, addressed, and documented.
Job requirements .
Qualifications and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering (Essential)
• Postgraduate training in management, technology or finance (Essential)
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (Desirable)
• At least 5 years’ experience in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or similar (Essential)
• At Least 3 years’ experience in operational excellence / business improvement / continuous improvement / change management or implementation of transformation programs (Essential)
• 2 years as a senior engineer or middle management position (Desirable)
Technical Skills.
• Expertise in operations and business services in the mining industry.
• Management Operating Systems design and implementation
• Development of Value Driver Trees, Value Stream Maps, and technical-economic models.
• Lean Six Sigma – Statistical Analysis, DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, 8 Wastes, RCA, Lean Management, Visual Boards, etc.
• Advanced skills in data analysis, statistical and financial modeling.
• Idea Pipeline and Portfolio Management Systems such as MS Projects, PIPware, etc.
• Knowledge of governance frameworks and change management practices.
• Digitalisation, Visualization and reporting tools (MS Power BI, Python, SQL Queries).
• Minitab, Sigma XL or similar Statistical Analysis tools.
