Job description
The position holder will be instrumental in collecting, analyzing, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics across the company’s supply chain operations. This role supports data-driven decision-making, identifies areas for improvement, and ensures transparency in supply chain performance. He/She will work closely with the Lead Performance Management to develop and maintain reporting frameworks, dashboards, and analytical tools that provide actionable insights to various stakeholders. This position is critical for optimizing supply chain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability within the dynamic mining environment.
His/Her responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Data Collection and Management
- Gather, validate, and organize supply chain performance data from various internal systems (e.g., SAP, Coupa, etc.) and external sources.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all reporting platforms.
- Develop and maintain data collection processes and procedures to streamline reporting efforts.
2. Performance Analysis and Insights
- Conduct in-depth analysis of all supply chain KPIs, including but not limited to, Contract Coverage, On-time delivery, inventory levels, lead times, logistics costs, supplier performance, and forecast accuracy.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and root causes of performance deviations.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
- Support the Performance lead to drive the operationalization of data-driven insights to identify bottlenecks and efficiency opportunities within the supply chain lifecycle.
3. Commercial Planning, Forecasting and Budget Support
- Support the Performance Lead in the annual supply chain budget cycle, collaborating with functional heads to align spending with operational requirements and financial targets.
- Support commercial planning and forecasting activities, including variance analysis and commentary for senior leadership.
- Assist in developing and refining supply chain forecasting models and methodologies.
- Analyze forecast accuracy and provide feedback to improve planning processes.
- Support demand and supply planning teams with relevant performance data and insights.
- Ensure all supply chain activities contribute optimally to the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model for major mining assets.
4. Data Analytics and Business Intelligence
- Support the Performance Lead with data analytics to identify trends, benchmark performance against industry standards, and recommend improvements.
- Translate complex supply chain data into clear, actionable commercial information for C-suite decision-making.
- Review data governance related to performance metrics, ensuring accuracy and reliability of all reported information.
5. Reporting and Dashboard Development
- Design, develop, and maintain regular performance reports and interactive dashboards for various audiences, including senior management, supply chain leadership, and operational teams.
- Utilize business intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView) to visualize data effectively and communicate key findings.
- Ensure reports are timely, accurate, and tailored to meet specific stakeholder needs.
6. Continuous Improvement and optimization
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the Performance lead in facilitating workshops and initiatives aimed at optimizing supply chain processes, reducing waste, and improving service levels to internal customers (e.g., Maintenance and Production teams).
- Collaborate with supply chain operational teams to identify opportunities for process optimization based on performance data.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing supply chain effectiveness and efficiency.
- Work closely with the Governance and Risk team to ensure performance metrics adequately capture compliance and risk resilience.
7. Stakeholder Communication and Reporting
- Prepare executive-level performance reports and presentations for site General Managers, the Head of Supply Chain, and CFOs.
- Act as a key point of contact for data-related inquiries from various departments
- Act as the primary interface between the supply chain function and the finance/commercial departments, ensuring alignment on financial performance and strategic initiatives.
8. System Optimisations
- Work with IT and system owners to optimize data extraction, transformation, and loading processes for reporting purposes.
- Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new reporting tools and technologies.
Job requirements
Qualifications and experience
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management, Business Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- Have at least 5 years of professional experience in Supply Chain Management or Performance Management, preferably in a mining or heavy industry environment.
Technical skills
- Be Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in data visualization and storytelling with data.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, advanced formulas).
- Experience with SQL for data querying.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and supply chain planning software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in an understandable format.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ensuring compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and sustainability initiatives.
- A commitment to optimizing processes, potentially through digitalization, and applying best practices in Supply Chain.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with all organizational levels, external contacts, and cross-functional teams. The ability to influence stakeholders is critical.
