Job Description

 

Reporting directly to the Manager Capital Procurement, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting capital project procurement activities within the KCC Processing Department. The role focuses on sourcing, purchasing, expediting, and delivery of equipment, materials, and services. It ensures procurement execution aligns with the unique needs and timelines of KCC’s processing capital projects, while maintaining full compliance with procurement procedures and standards, including Incoterms and global supply chain practices.

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for capital equipment, materials, and services aligned with KCC Processing project goals.
  • Coordinate end-to-end procurement processes including requisition validation, RFQ/RFP issuance, bid analysis, and purchase order creation.
  • Manage expediting activities to ensure timely vendor documentation, manufacturing, shipping, and delivery milestones for KCC capital projects.
  • Apply and monitor international trade terms (Incoterms) to manage risk and responsibilities in global transactions related to capital procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with KCC’s internal procurement governance, audit requirements, and applicable legal frameworks.
  • Maintain procurement documentation in accordance with KCC policies and audit standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, finance, logistics, and warehousing teams to ensure seamless procurement planning and execution.
  • Engage in supplier onboarding, performance monitoring, and resolution of supply-related issues.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements specific to processing capital procurement operations.
  • Support local supplier development initiatives and monitor local content compliance.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in capital procurement within mining, processing, or a related heavy industrial sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in goods and services procurement including contract placement and administration.

 

 

Technical skills.

 

  • Strong expediting knowledge with ability to manage vendor timelines and logistics interfaces.
  • Solid understanding of Incoterms and their application in international purchasing and delivery terms.
  • Familiarity with contract management principles, supplier relationship management, and procurement risk mitigation.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement reporting tools.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English required; French or Swahili would be an advantage.
