Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, abbreviated as KCC SA, is a company governed by Congolese law operating in Kolwezi, the capital of Lualaba Province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

KCC SA carries out large-scale mining of copper and cobalt ores. It comprises an underground mine, open-pit mines, and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation holds one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life exceeding 25 years.

The role of Senior Technical Trainer will be to design, manage and deliver specialized training programs for excavator and excavator operators in the mining sector. He/she will ensure the creation and updating of teaching materials, carry out practical and theoretical evaluations, and supervise the application of safety and quality standards. The Senior Trainer will also coordinate training schedules, monitor learners' progress and work closely with internal teams and external service providers. Its action will help strengthen technical and operational skills while ensuring compliance with site standards.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Design and maintain training materials. This includes creating, updating, and standardizing excavator-specific training materials, operating procedures (SOPs), and assessment tools, to ensure content is always relevant and compliant with technical and safety requirements.
  • Organize and coordinate training interventions. This includes scheduling sessions in collaboration with operational managers, managing registrations, logistics (equipment, rooms, catering) and integrating training into the overall schedule without disrupting production.
  • Ensure the delivery of practical and theoretical training. This involves conducting on-site or classroom training, conducting practical evaluations in the field, as well as theoretical exams to validate operators' skills in accordance with company standards and OEM recommendations.
  • Evaluate the performance of learners and trainers. This includes monitoring progress through observations of planned tasks, analyzing feedback via questionnaires, reviewing training logs, and implementing corrective actions to improve the effectiveness of training.
  • Manage training files and traceability. This includes updating training databases (LMS), tracking attendance, issuing certificates, and regularly communicating indicators to stakeholders.
  • Supervise and mentor junior and apprentice trainers. This consists of mentoring new trainers, sharing good teaching practices, developing their technical and pedagogical skills, and supporting their skills development.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This includes educating operators on safety practices, verifying compliance with safety protocols during trainings, and coordinating with the training center to ensure compliance with HSE standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties. This includes regular communication with training managers, operations, contractors, and external vendors to align needs, share results, and adjust training plans.
  • Carry out continuous improvement actions. This involves collecting feedback from operators, analysing performance gaps, proposing and implementing solutions to optimise the quality of training and adaptation to technical developments.
  • Conduct skills assessments and certifications. This includes conducting Prior Learning Recognition Assessments (RPLs), Competency Verification (VoC), and validating operators according to internal procedures and regulatory requirements.

 

Job Requirements 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Hold a university degree in technical (Electricity, Mechanics, Electromechanics), Mining or Geomining.
  • A Higher Certificate in Career-related Education, Training and Development Practices would be an advantage.
  • Having Evaluator and Facilitator Certifications would be an advantage.
  • Have an INPP Certificate in Andragogy.
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a trainer role, including specific experience required in driving mining excavators and excavators, including on the following models : Excavators: Models 6015B, 320D, 336, 336D, 336D2L, 336GC, 390FL, ZX470LCH-5G, ZX870LCR-5G. Shovels: Models 6030BH, 6030FS, 6060BH, 6060FS, RH340.

Technical skills.

 

  • Demonstrate customer service awareness.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of training needs analysis.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of competency-based learning material development.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the results-based approach to education and training.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different learning styles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (e.g. HR Manage, Moodle).
  • Proficiency in competency-based training and adult education principles.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills with excellent communication.
  • Understand the mechanical principles of mobile heavy equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, auxiliary mobile mining equipment, auxiliary mobile mining equipment, auxiliary mobile mining equipment, air conditioning systems, auxiliary mobile equipment, and auxiliary mobile mining mechanical principles.
