Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, abbreviated as KCC SA, is a company governed by Congolese law operating in Kolwezi, the capital of Lualaba Province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

KCC SA carries out large-scale mining of copper and cobalt ores. It comprises an underground mine, open-pit mines, and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation holds one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life exceeding 25 years.

The role of Senior Technical Trainer – Auxiliary will be to manage, develop and deliver training programs for mining auxiliary equipment operators. This includes creating educational materials, conducting theoretical and practical assessments, as well as monitoring the trainees' progress to ensure compliance with company standards and safety regulations. He/she will also be responsible for training planning and record keeping.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Coordinate training interventions : This includes liaising with external training providers or internal departments for specialized or mandatory training programs, as well as coordinating planned training interventions for the auxiliary equipment training section. The goal is to ensure that training aligns with production schedules without disrupting business continuity.
  • Conduct administrative follow-up of trainings : This includes tracking attendance at trainings, monitoring compliance with training, and escalating gaps to relevant stakeholders. It also involves carrying out all the necessary steps (catering, course materials, travel, accommodation, etc.) and obtaining learners' information via the Learning Management System (LMS) to maintain accurate records.
  • Plan training for mobile heavy equipment operators : This includes identifying all training specific to auxiliary mobile heavy equipment operators provided in the open air training section, as well as scheduling the dates and times for each training intervention, including the calendar in the company's intranet.
  • Develop and revise training materials : This includes developing, revising and standardizing training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and proficiency tools specific to ancillary equipment, ensuring that all materials reflect safe work practices and critical task protocols.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs : This includes evaluating the effectiveness of training programs by measuring employee performance, knowledge retention, and other relevant metrics. It is also a question of formulating corrective measures and recommendations for the improvement of the quality of training.
  • Conduct competency assessments and scheduled task observations : This includes conducting Prior Learning Recognition (RPL - OEM) and Competency Verification (VoC) assessments, ensuring that operator assessments are conducted in accordance with company rules and guidelines, always maintaining the highest levels of integrity.
  • Provide hands-on and refresher training : This includes facilitating hands-on training aligned with OEM specifications, machine health preventative maintenance routines, and site-specific procedures. It also provides refresher and refresher courses for operators, technicians and apprentices.
  • Supervise and mentor junior trainers : This includes mentoring junior trainers, apprentices, and other employees on equipment operation and preventative maintenance practices. It is also about ensuring that all training reflects safe work practices and critical task protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental requirements : This includes monitoring compliance with safety, health and environmental requirements at the open-air training centre, ensuring that all training activities are conducted safely.
  • Assist in the training needs and budget assessment process : This includes assisting the Superintendent of Open Training in the training needs assessment and budget process, thereby contributing to the strategic planning of training initiatives.

 

Job Requirements 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Hold a university degree in technical (Electricity, Mechanics, Electromechanics), Mining or Geomining.
  • A Higher Certificate in Career-related Education, Training and Development Practices would be an advantage.
  • Having Evaluator and Facilitator Certifications would be an advantage.
  • Have an INPP Certificate in Andragogy.
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a trainer role, including three (3) years at a functional/specialist level of equipment such as Compactors (CS74B, CS76XT), Bulldozers (D10, D10T, D10T2, D11T, D7R, D8GC, D8R, D9R), Motor Graders (140K, 14H, 16M, 18, 18M3, 24, 24M), and Loaders (226B, 226B3).

Technical skills.

 

  • Demonstrate customer service awareness.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of training needs analysis.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of competency-based learning material development.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the results-based approach to education and training.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different learning styles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (e.g. HR Manage, Moodle).
  • Proficiency in competency-based training and adult education principles.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills with excellent communication.
  • Understand the mechanical principles of mobile heavy equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, auxiliary mobile mining equipment, auxiliary mobile mining equipment, auxiliary mobile mining equipment, air conditioning systems, auxiliary mobile equipment, and auxiliary mobile mining mechanical principles.
