Job Description

 

 

Under the direct supervision of Procurement As Superintendent , the primary role of the incumbent will be to maximize the purchasing value of reagents critical to copper and cobalt mining operations. This involves minimizing costs, ensuring product reliability, and optimizing the quality of reagents and associated services. He/she will be responsible for building strategic relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and continuously improving the efficiency of reagent procurement processes in a demanding mining environment.

 


He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

•    Collaborate closely with end users: This includes early and accurate identification of specific reagent needs of different teams (production, engineering), providing relevant information for the procurement process and assistance in obtaining quotes tailored to the technical and operational requirements of copper and cobalt mining sites.
•    Advise on the most cost-effective reagent options : This includes actively directing and advising end users on reagents of acceptable quality, meeting technical specifications, and available at the most advantageous prices. This role involves a thorough cost-effectiveness analysis, taking into account the performance, reliability, and sustainability required for mineral processing.
•    Manage reagent purchase requests : This includes the receipt, verification, and diligent processing of all reagent purchase requests issued by the relevant departments. He/she will ensure that each request is duly completed and authorized in accordance with established procurement procedures and internal policies.
•    Track requisitions in the purchasing management system (Orb-Fusion) : This includes the accurate and timely entry of reagent requisitions into the company's ERP/GPA system (Orb-Fusion). The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing their progress through all required approval steps, ensuring full traceability and workflow optimization.
•    Monitor reagent supplier performance : This includes the ongoing assessment and monitoring of reagent supplier performance. He/she will ensure that deliveries are in line with contractual obligations, deadlines, and key performance indicators (KPIs), thereby contributing to the reliability and robustness of the supply chain.
•    Ensure reagent order deadlines are met : This includes responsibility for ensuring that all reagent orders are placed and processed within the timeframes set by internal procurement procedures. The goal is to minimize potential delays and ensure consistent availability of essential inputs for mining operations.
•    Inform end users about the status of reagent deliveries : This includes proactively and transparently communicating estimated delivery dates, shipping times, and any potential delays regarding ordered reagents. This information will allow operational teams to plan their activities and projects accordingly, minimizing disruptions.
•    Expedite outstanding reagent orders : This includes the rigorous tracking and active follow-up of all outstanding reagent orders to ensure timely and compliant delivery. The incumbent will also be required to maintain constant and clear communication with end users regarding the status of their supplies.
•    Manage reagent inventory and supplier relationships : This includes monitoring reagent inventory levels, optimizing supplies, and developing and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with both local and international reagent suppliers. The goal is to optimize availability, commercial terms, and quality.
•    Proactively identify and resolve reagent-related issues : This includes the ability to anticipate potential difficulties that may arise in the supply, quality, or compliance of reagents. The incumbent will be required to implement rapid and effective solutions to minimize disruptions to mining operations and ensure business continuity.

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

•    Have at least an undergraduate degree in commerce or equivalent (finance and accounting / business administration, logistics).
•    Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for communication with international suppliers.
•    Have a CSCP Certification ( Certified Supply Chain Professional) or equivalent is a major asset.
•    Have at least four (4) years of experience in a similar position (Technical Buyer, ideally in reagents).
•    Having prior experience in the mining sector (copper and cobalt) is a significant asset.
•    Have at least three (3) years of experience in procurement and logistics.

 

Technical skills.

 

•    Proven mastery of purchasing management software (ERP), notably Orb-Fusion.
•    Ability to analyze market data, supplier performance and reagent pricing trends.
•    In-depth knowledge of specific chemical reagents and their application in copper and cobalt ore processing.
•    Advanced skills in negotiating, drafting and managing complex procurement contracts.
•    reporting and analysis tools to optimize procurement strategies.
