Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the direct supervision of the Technical Services Manager OP Planning, the role of the incumbent will be to provide high-level technical expertise in the design, planning and optimization of waste rock piles, ore stockpiles, haul roads and associated mining infrastructure. In collaboration with the planning, geotechnical, operations and environment teams, he/she will ensure the development of safe, efficient and sustainable solutions, aligned with the mine life plan. The position contributes to the improvement of operational performance, the control of transport costs, the stability of infrastructure and compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Design and optimize waste rock piles and mine infrastructure. This includes the development and enhancement of short-, medium- and long-term designs for waste rock piles, ore stockpiles, haulage roads and associated infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient and life-of-mine operations.
- Plan and coordinate activities related to mine piles. This includes planning deposition sequences, monitoring performance, reconciling volumes, and coordinating with planning and operations teams to ensure operational and budget goals are met.
- Oversee the technical requirements of drainage and dewatering systems. This includes defining technical requirements for pumping systems, pipes, sumps and hydraulic structures, in collaboration with specialized teams, to ensure efficient management of mine water.
- Guarantee the technical, geotechnical and environmental compliance of infrastructures. This includes validating designs to geotechnical, environmental and operational requirements, conducting field inspections as well as implementing the necessary corrective actions to maintain the integrity of the mining infrastructure.
- Provide technical leadership and support to teams. This includes acting as a technical referent for the engineering, geotechnical and operations teams, mentoring engineers and technical collaborators as well as sharing best practices to strengthen the organization's skills.
- Develop and implement standards and best practices. This includes the development, updating and application of procedures, technical standards and working methods related to the engineering of mine piles and infrastructure in order to sustainably improve operational performance.
- Promote continuous improvement and technical innovation. This includes identifying opportunities to optimize designs, repository methods, transportation efficiency, and operating costs, as well as conducting technical studies to support strategic decisions.
- Produce and communicate the technical data necessary for operations. This includes preparing and disseminating reliable mine control data to the surveying, production, and planning teams to ensure execution in accordance with approved designs.
- Carry out technical analyses and optimisation studies. This includes conducting benchmarking studies, technical and economic trade-off analyses, and making recommendations to decision-making bodies to support investments and improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements. This includes enforcing HSE policies, promoting a culture of risk prevention, participating in audits and inspections, and working with various stakeholders to ensure safe and sustainable operations.
