Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

As an industrial mining company, we provide safe workplaces and support the sustainable development of the local economy. We maintain a constructive and open dialogue with the communities that host us, as well as with the provincial and national government.

Under the supervision of the OP Grade Control and Reconciliation Superintendent, the role of the incumbent will be to supervise and coordinate grade control activities in open pits to ensure optimal ore extraction with minimal dilution. He/she will ensure alignment between geological models, mine plans and field operations. The position involves close collaboration with the geology, mining engineering and production teams. He/she will contribute to the continuous improvement of operational performance and the optimization of ore recovery. Finally, he/she will guarantee compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards.

He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

  • Coordinate grade control activities. This includes overseeing grade tracking, analyzing production data, and collaborating with planning and operations teams to ensure extraction is in line with geological models and production targets.
  • Ensure optimal feeding of the crusher. This includes planning and controlling the flow of ore to the processing plant to ensure a stable, continuous, on-spec feed, while maximizing metallurgical recovery.
  • Manage the operations of ROM pads and stockpiles. This includes arranging the storage, construction, maintenance and blending of ores to meet processing requirements and ensure efficient resource management.
  • Implement corrective actions to reduce dilution. This includes identifying discrepancies in mining and feeding facilities, analyzing their causes, and deploying solutions to improve ore quality and reduce losses.
  • Produce and analyze production reports. This includes developing detailed reports on production performance, ore flows, and grade control operations to support decision-making and monitoring of key metrics.
  • Ensure the compliance of ore flows. This includes ensuring that ore is moved to the appropriate destinations according to plans, to avoid misclassification or contamination of stockpiles.
  • Collaborate in the development of grade control strategies. This includes working with mining engineers and geologists to develop, adjust, and optimize grade control strategies and operational plans.
  • Coaching, training and developing teams. This includes supervising operational teams, providing them with training on ROM pad grade control and management practices, and supporting their professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. This includes applying, monitoring and improving safety procedures and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations in all production activities.
