Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of sustainability programs at the KCC site. This includes the management of energy, water, waste, climate change, biodiversity, and land use planning. The incumbent will ensure compliance with legal and international standards while promoting continuous improvement in environmental performance, particularly with regard to progressive rehabilitation and preparation for mine closure.
He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
• Implement Sustainable Development Programs: This includes executing and monitoring environmental sustainability activities in accordance with KCC's internal policies, established procedures and the directives of the Environmental Superintendent. The incumbent will also support the implementation of programs related to energy efficiency, water management and waste reduction, ensuring that all actions comply with approved standards and guidelines;
• Oversee Life of Asset ( LoA ) management: This includes supporting the implementation of environmental data tracking systems, monitoring and maintaining records of land disturbance, rehabilitation progress and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The incumbent will also be required to provide validated environmental data to planning teams for reports and reviews related to the life of the asset;
• Ensure progressive rehabilitation and closure preparation: This includes overseeing the on-site implementation of progressive rehabilitation activities according to the established schedule. Accurate and up-to-date spatial records of disturbed and rehabilitated areas will be maintained using approved systems such as GIS. The role will also involve documenting and tracking rehabilitation activities to facilitate internal reviews and closure cost estimates;
• Managing Biodiversity and Ecosystems: This includes supporting the implementation of the Biodiversity Management Plan (BMP) and conducting or supervising field activities for biodiversity monitoring and habitat condition assessment. The post holder will also be required to monitor compliance with biodiversity controls, including the protection of sensitive habitats and buffer zones;
• Contribute to climate change and GHG emissions management: This includes supporting the collection and validation of GHG emissions data (scopes 1 to 3) in accordance with internal protocols. The incumbent will be required to compile monthly data, conduct field checks of emission sources and assist in the deployment of carbon reduction initiatives, while reporting anomalies;
• Optimize energy, water, and waste efficiency: This includes monitoring and recording performance related to energy, water consumption, and waste production. The position will require supporting the implementation of efficiency initiatives by coordinating inspections and validating the results of measurement systems. This will also involve assisting in the application of circular economy practices, such as recycling;
• Manage land and soil permits and management: This includes supporting the implementation of land and soil management plans, monitoring soil stability and erosion risks. The incumbent will coordinate the issuance of soil disturbance permits and assist in the application of bioremediation techniques for land rehabilitation.
• Conduct environmental monitoring, auditing, and reporting: This includes conducting field monitoring and inspections (for GHGs, biodiversity, soil, air, water, and noise) to ensure data quality. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring sustainability monitoring tools are updated and contributing to environmental reporting for internal, regulatory, and investor disclosures.
Job requirements .
Qualifications and experience.
• Hold a University Diploma in sustainable development, environmental sciences, natural resource management, environmental Geography or a related discipline;
• Have at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the mining, industrial or infrastructure sectors;
• Have a solid knowledge of DRC environmental regulations and international standards such as Copper Mark, GHG Protocol, IFC Performance Standards, ICMM and ISO 14001. Practical experience with environmental monitoring equipment and data analysis;
• Have a good understanding of geographic information systems (GIS) and environmental data management tools.
