Job Description

 

Manage the Underground Backfill process plant, Shotcrete plant, as well as QA/QC compliance to backfill and shotcrete placement underground. Ensure the backfill and shotcrete products comply with KCC QAQC requirements and are in line with the Backfill and Shotcrete Management Plan, as well as the Glencore Fatal Hazard Protocols.


He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Ensure safety compliance through backfill and shotcrete production processes.
  • Coordinate between KTC Concentrator, Backfill plant and UG mining operations, to meet the backfill schedule and quality, that satisfies the mine’s production requirements.
  • Supervise crews and monitor backfill production, supply, QA/QC, and analyse the downtime trends to ensure consistent end-product at consistent placement rates.
  • Supervise crews and monitor shotcrete and concrete production, supply, QA/QC and analyse the downtime trends to ensure consistent end-product at consistent placement rates.
  • Monitor the backfill and shotcrete product supply, as well related stock management with mine supply team.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance to backfill, standard processes and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to daily, weekly and monthly backfill and shotcrete production plan.
  • Actively engage to implementation of HBF and shotcrete continuous improvement projects.  
  • Manage the commercial and technical scope of suppliers, contractors, consultants, and facilitate mobilisation as needed.
  • Collate data for auditors and participate in assurance audits.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related field or extensive operational exposure into the domain.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience directly related to the responsibilities described above.
  • Good knowledge and proven experience in mine backfill operations as well as shotcrete production and application underground.
  • Willingness to train juniors and openness to get support through Senior Technical Advisor (Backfill Planning & QA/QC) for then providing operational support to the UG backfill superintendent.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills (French, English being an advantage).
  • Willingness to work in a team environment that encourages self-initiative.
  • Minimum basic level of Microsoft office pack for analysis and reporting.
  • Proven track record of backfill(HBF, CHBF, Paste, CAF) & Shotcrete production operations supervision at senior level.
  • Advanced operational leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated project organization and management skills.
  • Ability to supervise multi skills operational crew, effective operational discipline leadership skills, strong communication skills to connect crews into management vision.
