Job Description
Under the supervision of the Principal Process Engineer , the incumbent will be responsible for identifying, contributing to and leading test programs to support production plans, participating in the development of technical documentation, writing and reviewing technical reports for studies and projects, developing timelines and ensuring the progress of project actions, as well as leading and collaborating in the execution of technical studies with various teams.
He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
• Review and develop technical documentation related to processing, including plant layout plans, process flowsheets and design criteria.
• Collect and analyze operational data from the site to support technical studies and ongoing programs.
• Critically review and write technical reports.
• Initiate and manage test programs aimed at achieving production objectives and contributing to technical studies and projects.
• Lead, contribute to and ensure the execution of technical programs and studies of varying complexity.
• Carry out operational support activities as needed.
• Support the implementation of metallurgical technical standards and projects aimed at achieving production plan targets.
• Carry out metallurgical audits and support on-site teams in the implementation of new process flowsheets or modifications.
• Participate in internal peer reviews and idea generation activities.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and experience
• Have a university degree in metallurgy, chemical engineering or a related discipline.
• Have over seven (7) years of metallurgical experience in the base metals industry, including at least 3 years in on-site operational roles.
• Have the ability to collaborate effectively with various technical disciplines such as geology, mining, mechanics and finance.
• Have the ability to manage projects while mobilizing and influencing key stakeholders.
• Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Have the expertise necessary to write and revise technical documents in processing and metallurgy.
• Previous experience in project management or technical studies, and work experience in the Democratic Republic of Congo is an asset.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory.
• Have an ONEM card.
Technical skills.
• Mastery of ore processing or chemical transformation processes: Ability to design, optimize and troubleshoot processing circuits (e.g.: flotation, leaching, hydrometallurgy).
• Process Data Analysis and Interpretation: Skill in using mass balances, KPIs and operational data to improve facility performance.
• Planning and management of metallurgical test programs: Experience in the design, execution and analysis of laboratory or on-site testwork to support technical studies.
• Reading and development of technical documentation: Mastery of PFD (Process Flow Diagram), P&ID ( Piping and Instrumentation Diagram), design criteria and layout diagrams for the design and modification of treatment facilities.
