Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the direct supervision of the Mine Engineering Superintendent, the Senior Mine Planner – Short Term will be responsible for developing, updating and optimizing short-term underground mine plans to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective production. He/she will translate long-term plans and production objectives into executable operational schedules. The position ensures alignment between the short, medium and long-term plans while integrating operational, geotechnical and safety constraints. He/she will analyze the performance of schedules and the gaps between planned and realized. The position actively contributes to the continuous improvement of planning and reconciliation processes.
He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Develop, update and optimize short-term mine plans. This includes the development of weekly and monthly schedules integrating production priorities, operational capacities and field constraints.
- Translate long-term mining plans into operational schedules. This includes the conversion of mine designs and strategic targets into detailed and achievable production programs.
- Plan and coordinate development, felling and backfilling activities. This includes the integration of operational, ventilation, geotechnical and safety constraints into the mining sequences.
- Design underground workings and mining sequences. This includes the design of stops, development structures and layouts in accordance with geotechnical, ventilation and safety requirements.
- Monitor the execution of schedules and analyze discrepancies. This includes tracking adherence to schedules, analyzing variations between planned and actual performance, and identifying root causes.
- Identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimization. This includes proactively analyzing technical and operational constraints to improve productivity and plan flexibility.
- Provide reliable short-term production forecasts. This includes the development of accurate forecasts to support management decision-making and the steering of operations.
- Collaborate closely with the operational and support teams. This includes coordination with underground operations, mine control, geology, geotechnical, maintenance and HSE to ensure executable and safe plans.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in mine planning. This includes optimizing processes, planning tools, and reconciliation practices between planned and realized.
- Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations. This includes the production of reports, dashboards, performance analyses and technical recommendations for management and stakeholders.
