Job Description

 

 

Reporting to the Digital Transformation Manager , the incumbent will support the operations team in implementing digital projects by designing, building and maintaining systems and architecture to efficiently collect, process and store data. He/she ensures a robust, scalable and optimized data infrastructure for analysts and data scientists. The role includes managing data pipelines for ETL (extraction, transformation, loading), designing and optimizing databases, data warehouses and data lakes. The incumbent ensures data quality, consistency and reliability, while managing batch processing, data streaming and real-time analytics platforms. He/she collaborates with DevOps teams to deploy and monitor data systems.

 

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):


 
1. Data architecture and database management:


•    Design, develop, install and maintain Big Data platforms and data integrations into databases, warehouses and data lakes (cloud and on-premise technologies).
•    Ensure the architectural integrity and efficiency of databases.
•    Ensure the compatibility of required technologies and infrastructures.
•    Ensure that the architecture meets business requirements.
•    Design and implement scalable systems to handle data growth.

 

2. Data mining:


•    Develop and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate and improve the data value chain.
•    Implement processes and procedures to ensure optimal ETL processing and maintain data quality.

 

3. Data quality and compliance:


•    Manage, optimize and standardize metadata from various data sources, in accordance with internal systems and IT policies.
•    Ensure data quality, consistency and security.
•    Implement measures to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
•    Recommend new ways to manage and improve data integrity and source reliability.

 

4. Activation of commercial activities:


•    Enable efficient and reliable data collection.
•    Use programming languages and engineering tools to merge and develop data analysis solutions, tools and models.
•    Collaborate with stakeholders to develop digital strategies and roadmaps to achieve strategic business objectives.

 

5. Innovation and transformation:


•  Explore and discover new opportunities for data generation, use and application through research and market studies.
•  Develop and deploy new ways to apply Business Intelligence and advanced analytics models to improve “business as usual ,” including process automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

 

6. Change and risk management:


•   Participate in the digital/data steering committee to assess and review new technology proposals or changes to the digital landscape.
•   Ensure that governance and change management ( MoC ) processes are effectively applied to identify, address and document risks associated with changes in the data and digital landscape.

 

7. Process improvement and project management:


•    Liaise with businesses to clarify data needs and assess feasibility of project implementation.
•    Perform tasks in accordance with quality or architectural requirements.
•    Apply innovative data techniques to identify and solve pressing problems.
•    Create and maintain advanced analytics platforms, tools and products.
•    Create and maintain data pipelines to capture, clean and democratize information.
•    Lead, design and build data architectures and tactical databases to support internal product development.
•    Collaborate with data scientists, full stack developers, and experts to design and build complex solutions.
•    Produce high-quality code, adhering to internal guidelines, frameworks and documentation to evolve and maintain the internal technology stack.
•    Follow internal continuous integration and continuous deployment practices.
•    Ensure adherence and performance of consulting systems and products.

 

 


Job Requirements

 
Qualifications and experience

 

 

•    Have a degree in Engineering (Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering), Computer Science, Data Science, Software Development, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or a similar field.
•    Have more than 8 years of professional experience.
•    Have 5+ years of experience in operations, data analytics, data science, repair, geology or mine planning.
•    Have 5+ years of experience in architecture development, database management, integration or cloud computing .
•    Have more than 5 years of experience in digital project management or digital transformation.

 

 

Technical skills.

 

 

•    Data Analysis and Decision Making : Mastery of business and statistical analysis techniques to extract actionable insights, optimize processes and improve business results.
•    Interpretation and Communication : Ability to interpret complex data and present clear and accessible results to non-technical stakeholders, via visual reports and dashboards.
•    Operations Optimization and Risk Management : Expertise in analyzing business operations to identify improvements and implementing strategies to mitigate risks based on data.
•    Technical skills and tools : In-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence tools, AI/ML technologies, and mining industry specific applications (e.g. MineStar , Hexagon ), with expertise in using Power BI, Power Apps and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
