Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Reporting to the HS Superintendent Systems and Improvement , the position's main role will be to measure, analyze and optimize the SHEC (Safety, Health, Environment and Community) performance of mining operations. Their main role is to collect, consolidate and audit incident, audit and leading indicator data to identify trends and risks. The incumbent is also responsible for producing clear reports for management and ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations. This position is essential for driving evidence-based safety strategies.
He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
• Collect and consolidate safety data : This includes aggregating data from a variety of sources, including incident reports, near misses, safety audits, Visible Felt Leadership (VFL), High Risk Work Verifications (HRWV) and PPE records, to provide a comprehensive information base for analysis;
• Develop and maintain data collection systems: This includes designing and managing robust processes for data collection, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of information. The role must also implement data governance policies to ensure its reliability and validity;
• Conduct regular data integrity audits : This includes conducting periodic audits of security data to ensure its integrity. The holder must actively identify any inconsistencies or anomalies in the data (data discrepancies ) and implement the necessary corrective actions to rectify them .;
• Analyze SHEC performance indicators : Includes analysis of leading indicators (e.g., VFLs , HRWVs ) and lagging indicators (e.g., incidents, lost-time accidents). This analysis is essential to assess current safety performance, identify trends , and project future risks.
• Identifying risk trends and patterns : This includes detecting and interpreting significant trends, recurring patterns, and anomalies in safety data. The goal is to identify specific areas for improvement and provide concrete recommendations based on this information .;
• Conduct root cause analyses and contribute to risk management : This includes performing in-depth root cause analyses of incidents. The incumbent must ensure that analytical data is directly used to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies ;
• Develop impactful reports and dashboards : This includes creating clear, concise and relevant reports, dashboards and presentations for various stakeholders, including security management, HR and senior management, to ensure transparent communication of results .;
• Ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards : This includes conducting rigorous reviews of current practices to ensure their alignment with Glencore regulations and internal safety standards . The incumbent must ensure that operational procedures meet all legal and corporate requirements ;
• Conduct gap analyses and support the implementation of changes : This includes identifying gap analyses between current safety practices and required standards, and supporting or leading the implementation of procedural changes identified during these analyses;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings : This includes working closely with the Security Manager, IT and other departments to understand their analytical needs and translate business questions into solutions . The incumbent must communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences in a clear and understandable manner.
Job requirements
Qualifications and experience
• Have a university degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Mathematics, Engineering, Environmental Science;
• Have more than five (5) years of experience in data analysis or a similar role , ideally in an industrial or mining environment;
• Have experience in security, operational or industrial environments;
Technical skills.
• Mastery of analytical tools : Advanced expertise in data collection, management and analysis tools (advanced Excel, databases, etc.);
• Reporting and Visualization : Demonstrated proficiency in developing dashboards (Power BI, Tableau or equivalent) for visualizing security data.
• Incident Analysis: Strong skills in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and identification of statistical trends and anomalies;
• Regulations: Working knowledge of SHEC regulations and internal mining industry safety standards;
• IT Systems: Familiarity with CMMS data management or other incident management systems.
