Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Mining Shift Coordinator, the Supervisors– Load & Haul will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all load and haul operations during the shift to ensure safe, efficient, and productive mining activities.

 

The role ensures optimal utilization of loading and hauling equipment (excavators, trucks), compliance with mine plans, and adherence to safety standards. The incumbent manages crews, monitors performance through Fleet Management Systems (Modular), and ensures effective use of onboard technologies such as OAS and CAS to enhance operational safety and efficiency.

 

Minimum qualification 

 

  • Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field,OR equivalent operational experience.
  • Valid mine safety and supervisory certifications.
  • Training in Fleet Management Systems (Modular) is an advantage.

 

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in open-pit mining operations.
  • At least two (2) to three (3) years in a supervisory role, preferably in load & haul operations.

 

Required skills

 

    • Strong understanding of open-pit load & haul operations and equipment productivity.
    • Ability to interpret mine plans and production targets.
    • Familiarity with Fleet Management Systems (Modular), OAS, and CAS systems.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to conduct Planned Task Observations (PTOs) and Safe Work Area Declarations.
    • Strong planning, coordination, and decision-making abilities under pressure.
    • Good team management and conflict resolution skills.
    • Awareness of key cost drivers (fuel consumption, cycle times, delays).

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Supervise and coordinate all load and haul operations to ensure safe, efficient, and productive shift performance aligned with mine plans and targets.
  • Optimize equipment utilization, truck allocation, and haulage routes while minimizing delays and ensuring smooth material movement.
  • Ensure proper ore and waste handling, safe operating conditions across the pit, and effective coordination with drilling, blasting, and support teams.
  • Monitor and manage work areas, including haul roads and dumping points, to maintain safe and efficient operating conditions.
  • Utilize fleet management systems (e.g., Modular) to track performance, manage dispatch, and ensure effective communication across teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing performance, enforcing SOP compliance, and supporting the implementation of new technologies (OAS, CAS).
  • Lead, coach, and manage teams, ensuring strong communication, discipline, and a positive safety culture.
  • Compliance with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures, as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
