Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

 

MUMI is recruiting a: "Superintendent - Mining Geology"

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Principal Geologist, the Mining Geology Superintendent will be responsible for implementing systems, procedures, and best practices within the team. He/She will also be expected to provide technical support to mining operations and the departmental team to ensure sustainable operational improvements.

 

Minimum qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field.

 

Required Experience

 

  •  Demonstrate at least seven (7) years of experience in open-pit mining, including substantial experience in geology, with a minimum of three (3) years in a Superintendent position. 
  • Proficiency in mining software such as Surpac, Datamine, Ore Controller, Grade Runner, or equivalent.

 

Required skills

 

  • Strong intercultural communication skills, with a good command of French; fluency in English will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in geological databases, modeling software, and integrated management systems.
  • Solid expertise in grade control modeling and geological processes, supported by strong analytical and interpretation skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage, maintain, and analyze geological databases.
  • Conduct grade control modeling with a strong focus on minimizing ore boundary loss and dilution.
  • Ensure accurate collection, validation, and reconciliation of production data.
  • Perform regular data audits and promote cross-disciplinary understanding of geological best practices from mine to mill.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safe work procedures and practices to prevent accidents and incidents.
  • Design and execute both short- and long-term geological programs to support life-of-mine objectives.
  • Ensure full compliance with Glencore’s environmental management standards and procedures, as well as MUMI SARL’s environmental policy.
