Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Project Manager , the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the portfolio of capital projects, particularly those related to Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME), within KCC's mining operations. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring governance and compliance with capital management processes, from the justification phase through to the execution and management of investments, whether for maintenance or expansion. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with established company policies, procedures and practices.

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

  • Ensuring the governance and execution of capital projects : This includes ensuring that all capital investments, whether maintenance or expansion projects, are properly justified, executed and managed in accordance with established company policies and procedures;
  • Support project processes and systems : This includes providing input and support to processes, systems and structures relevant to Copper Business projects in the region. The objective is to ensure smooth integration and optimal functioning;
  • Participate in project governance activities : This includes coordinating and interacting with local Project Management Offices (PMOs) and Project Steering Committees to ensure effective oversight and assurance of capital projects across the entire portfolio;
  • Develop effective project reporting : This includes assisting in reporting across the regional project portfolio to improve transparency. Analysis of project costs and schedules is also required to facilitate informed strategic decision-making;
  • Support risk identification and management : This includes working with teams to identify project risks and ensuring that all security and compliance standards and requirements are rigorously met.
  • Perform financial analysis of projects : This includes conducting detailed cost estimates, budget analyses, financial forecasts, and schedule analyses. These activities are crucial for ensuring and controlling the capital allocated to projects;
  • Provide strategic analysis and advice : This includes producing analysis and recommendations to inform capital planning decisions and program management within the project portfolio.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders : This includes working closely with the Regional Project Manager and the General Manager of Project Services to support investment reporting and ensure adherence to budgets and timelines;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies : This includes ensuring that project activities consistently comply with KCC's internal policies and procedures as well as delegated authorities for project management;
  • Manage project documentation : This includes ensuring the proper maintenance of essential documentation, such as monthly reports and data relating to the asset lifecycle ( LoA ), the four-year budget and the operating plan, for effective monitoring and control of projects.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and experience

  • Have a University degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent is preferred;
  • Have at least 9 years of relevant experience in project services, project controls or Project Management Office (PMO) at all stages of the project life cycle;
  • Having experience working with EPC/M project delivery organizations is an asset;
  • Have experience in end-to-end project management, preferably for major projects. Experience working with EPC/M project delivery organizations would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Having a good command of French and English would be a major asset.

 

Technical skills

  • Mastery of project management and control (costs, budgets, schedules);
  • Basic knowledge of business and finance;
  • Have a mastery of project management software: MS Project and ERP: SAP
  • Have mastery in the analysis of equipment performance;
  • Have strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Have demonstrated basic business and financial acumen.
