Job description.

 

Under the direct supervision of the Project Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative and logistical support to project teams within mining. This role involves coordinating project activities, tracking progress, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Track project progress, monitor timelines, and identify potential risks or issues.
  • Prepare and distribute project status reports and updates.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, and other project-related events.
  • Maintain project files and records.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports and invoices.
  • Assist with procurement and vendor management.
  • Coordinate logistics arrangements for project activities, such as travel, accommodation, and equipment rental.
  • Manage project inventories and equipment.
  • Assist with site visits and inspections.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and track project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members, stakeholders, and external parties.
  • Prepare and distribute project communications, such as emails, memos, and presentations.

 

Job requirements.

 

Qualifications and experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate certificate or diploma in Project Management is an advantage
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in projects coordination, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).

 

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana).
  • Knowledge of risk management techniques and tools to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
  • Familiarity with procurement software or systems to support project procurement activities.
  • Understanding of logistics software or tools to manage transportation, inventory, and equipment.
  • English language skills are mandatory.
  • French or Swahili language skills are advantageous.
