Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Technical As Study Manager, the incumbent will oversee and drive geological modeling, resource estimation, and geological data integrity within Kamoto Copper Company . In this critical role, he/she will ensure the production of accurate, timely, and standardized mineral resource reports to support operational efficiency and long-term mine planning.
He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
- Lead resource estimation processes, geological modelling and reserve calculations in accordance with international standards (JORC, NI43-101).
- Maintain and improve geological databases by ensuring data integrity, validation and quality control.
- Provide strategic geological input to short and long term mine planning processes, working closely with operational and mine planning teams.
- Lead the integration of geological data into mine planning software and systems, promoting continuous improvement.
- Act as a technical expert in mineral resource estimation, advising senior management and operational teams.
- Supervise and mentor members of the geological team, promoting professional development and capacity building.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and community relations standards and regulations.
- Coordinate activities with external auditors and consultants for the validation and audit of geological models and resources.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and experience.
- University degree in Geology or Geological Engineering; a postgraduate qualification will be considered a strong asset.
- Minimum of 15 years of proven experience in geological modeling and resource estimation, ideally gained within the copper or base metals mining industry.
- Solid understanding and practical experience of international mining reporting standards such as JORC and NI43-101.
- English proficiency required.
Technical skills.
- Strong expertise in the use of geological modeling software, including Leapfrog , Datamine , Surpac and Vulcan.
- Excellent ability to interpret and analyze complex geological data.
- Strong skills in mineral resource estimation and application of geostatistical principles.
- Extensive knowledge of geological data sampling and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) techniques.
