 Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Job Description

 

 

Under the supervision of the Regional Processing Manager , the incumbent will be responsible for providing metallurgical expertise in the development of long-term plans and budgets for Glencore 's copper operations in Africa, actively participating in the optimization of on-site assets and processes, providing technical support to improve metallurgical performance, identifying and driving technical programs to achieve production targets, and supporting expansion and modernization projects for copper processing facilities.

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):


 
•    Provide metallurgical expertise in the development of long-term production plans (Life of Mine) and budget forecasts.
•    Collect and analyze operational data from sites to inform the planning process and identify key success factors.
•    Identify critical metallurgical parameters and associated programs, and ensure clear and concise communication of production plans to local, regional and global teams.
•    Initiate, manage and monitor metallurgical testing programs aimed at achieving long-term production objectives and budget targets.
•    Provide metallurgical support in the development of plans related to mineral resources and reserves.
•    Carry out operational support interventions as needed.
•    Review short-term production plans and technical test programs conducted on site and evaluate the results, if applicable.
•    Contribute to the implementation of metallurgical technical standards and projects geared towards achieving production objectives.
•    Carry out metallurgical audits and support field teams in the integration of new processing schemes or in the implementation of modifications.
•    Evaluate the metallurgical and processing aspects of major or intermediate investment projects.
•    Participate in engineering and design reviews of treatment facility projects.


 

Job Requirements 


Qualifications and experience

 

•    Have a university degree in metallurgy, chemical engineering or a related discipline.
•    Have more than ten (10) years of experience in metallurgy in the base metals industry, including at least 5 years in operational roles directly on site.
•    Have proven experience collaborating with other technical disciplines such as mining engineering and geology.
•    Have participated in the development and implementation of process improvements, resulting from laboratory metallurgical testing programs.
•    Contributed to the definition of production plans, including long-term plans (Life of Mine).
•    Have experience in hydrometallurgy, preferably in the base metals sector.
•    Have a strong ability to communicate technical information and results to a diverse audience, including technical and non-technical stakeholders, up to the management level.
•    Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory.
•    Have an ONEM card.

 

Technical skills.

 

•    Expertise in base metal metallurgy (copper): Mastery of metallurgical processes, particularly hydrometallurgy, and ability to analyze and optimize critical parameters for copper recovery.
•    Strategic Planning and Budgeting: Proven experience in developing long-term production plans (Life of Mine) and budget forecasting for complex mining operations.
•    Operational data management and interpretation: Skills in collecting, analyzing and transforming data into concrete action plans, using modeling and simulation tools.
•    Conducting metallurgical tests and continuous improvement: Ability to design, manage and evaluate laboratory and field test programs, with a view to optimizing the performance of installations.
