Job description.

 

Reporting directly to the General Manager – Heavy Mining Equipment Maintenance, the incumbent will be responsible for optimizing the availability and reliability of the mining fleet by developing the skills of the maintenance teams. He/she will have to implement and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, using tools such as SAP PM. He/she will ensure effective asset lifecycle management, promoting a reliability culture and optimizing costs. He/she will also be responsible for strategic maintenance planning, ensuring that activities are aligned with the overall company objectives.

 

He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe and healthy working environment, where risks and hazards are identified and effectively mitigated. This includes promoting and proactively modelling high risk task management, life threatening protocols, critical controls, corporate risks and local mining regulations. This also includes defining and setting health and safety expectations in line with industry best practices .
  • Maintain and adhere to budgeting, forecasting, cost management and analysis processes, ensuring compliance with corporate financial reporting and governance policies, procedures and standards. This includes enabling and guiding zero-based maintenance budgeting, in line with asset lifecycle strategies and machine availability and operability commitments. This also includes advising and guiding in the development of budgets and forecasts in line with corporate planning and asset lifecycle.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively. Demonstrate the highest professional and ethical standards, ensuring that all actions are transparent and consistent with company policies and values. This includes demonstrating the highest standards without compromise, supporting and living the company values. It also includes acting as a role model and acting as a coach and inspiration to national managers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate operational and technical excellence by anticipating issues and guiding the team to achieve agreed departmental and business objectives, in order to maintain and enhance business value. This includes guiding the Planning & Reliability section to success, by identifying and ensuring that the required skills, equipment, tools, materials and systems are defined, planned, available and supported. This also includes defining, implementing and monitoring a risk-based fleet maintenance strategy, which prioritises maintenance activities based on the criticality of equipment and components, as well as safety risks.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the development of long and short term maintenance plans, supported by effective parts management and preventative maintenance, to maintain the surface mining fleet at target availabilities, in line with asset lifecycle commitments. This includes supporting, leading and enabling long and short term planning functions. This also includes advising on the use of condition monitoring and online data to inform maintenance planning and scheduling decisions.
  • Effectively deploy reliability engineering and condition monitoring to extend component life, reduce machine downtime and optimise maintenance strategies, ensuring the required maintenance skills are available to perform the work. This includes promoting compliance with the surface mining fleet maintenance strategy by ensuring it is defined, maintained and optimised with standard processes integrated with SAP. It also includes supporting the reliability engineering and condition monitoring strategy, facilitating asset lifecycle cost analysis and supporting execution through maintenance capability building.
  • Ensuring that the rebuild team and contractors have the necessary and appropriate tools, equipment, skills and resources to carry out the rebuild and assembly work of the machines efficiently, in a quality and safe manner. This also includes defining and implementing effective QA/QC processes to ensure that equipment is returned to the mining fleets in the agreed condition and timeframe, without requiring shutdown extensions or rework.

 

Job requirements .

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Hold a university degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or in a field related to heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Have at least 20 years of experience in industrial maintenance, including at least 10 years in a maintenance coaching role.
  • Proven experience in planning and executing reliability and maintenance strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices in surface maintenance planning and reliability.

 

Technical skills.

 

  • Skills in tactical and strategic planning,
  • Proficiency in reliability analysis tools (such as MTBF, MTTR, etc.).
  • Expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance techniques.
  • Proficiency in IT tools: planning, maintenance, data management and data analysis software.
  • In-depth knowledge of reliability analysis techniques (RCM, FMECA, etc.).
  • Expertise in optimizing preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
  • Ability to develop and implement predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Understanding of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Be bilingual (French and English).
