Job description

 

 

Reporting to the General Manager Finance , the Business Analysis and Planning (BAP) Manager is responsible for the execution of the financial planning process, management accounting and costing function, development of Enterprise Performance Management software and continuous improvements within the BAP team.  A key priority is the development and transfer of competencies to the national BAP team.

 


He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

 


•    Lead the process for Life of Asset (LoA) plans, annual operating and capital budgets and monthly forecast updates.  Submit these plans in group reporting templates.
•    Support the development of annual business planning and long-term strategies using Enterprise Performance Management software (Anaplan, Oracle, etc.).

•    Conduct variances analysis between actual and planned performance, providing valuable insights for optimal business decision making.
•    Lead cost review meetings for Mining, Processing and G&A Support Functions.  Explain clearly operational reasons for variances and communicate effectively options and recommendations for improvement and cost control.
•    Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly business performance reports to track organizational performance.

•    Apply the core values of simplicity and entrepreneurship to financial models and preparation of reports so that they are efficient and accurate.
•    Demonstrate high level business partnering skills with departments and facilitate meetings with stakeholders to gather information requirements.
•    Develop a deep understanding in the BAP team of the profitability drivers and cost structures of different business scenarios by engaging with team leaders across all areas of the business.

•    Provide articulate analysis of the interdependence of throughput, grade and recovery on processing performance.
•    Prepare and analyse with in-depth understanding processing circuit economics by ore feed.
•    Develop cost allocation processes for key shared consumables such as fuel, reagents and power.

•    Evaluate current business processes and recommend improvements, business opportunities and associated risks.
•    Assist with business case analysis for new initiatives using financial models.
•    Review of capital additions, transfers to PP&E and the capital accruals process provided by the Project Team.

•    Lead the development of the BAP team members by identifying training needs and delivering a training plan that addresses shortcomings and fosters continuous improvement.
•    Facilitate detailed and effective Individual Development Plans and goal setting with BAP team members.
•    Assist with compliance with environmental requirements in capital project planning and operational budgeting.

•    Promote awareness of environmental sustainability and biodiversity principles within planning and performance management discussions.
•    UKCR Sox control monitoring, reporting and improvement on areas within the BAP functionality.
•    Review of Financial Reporting information where a high degree of judgement, assumptions and future long-term considerations are involved.

 

 

Job requirements 

 

Qualifications and experience

 

•    Hold a university degree in accounting or finance.
•    Chartered Accountant accreditation is preferable.
•    Previous experience of BAP/FP&A/Finance Business Partner at a mine Site that has complex processing such as copper or gold.

•    Previous experience at manager level or clearly ready to step up from superintendent level.
•    Demonstrated success in the transfer of skills and competence to national teams through succession planning.
•    Previous experience in Francophone Africa with cultural awareness of how business is done in Africa.

•    System development and process improvement experience.
•    Expertise in financial systems – SAP and Enterprise Performance Management software (Anaplan, Oracle, etc).
