Watu Wetu SAS, WW SAS in acronym, is a company under Congolese law operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the main activity of managing a medical service for businesses and A training center. WW SAS serves the companies Kamoto Copper Company SA and Mutanda Mining SARL which are its main shareholders.
The company covers the medical care of all employees of these two companies as well as their family members.
WW SAS comprises three facilities, namely Watu Wetu Clinic in Mumi, Watu Wetu City Site and Watu Wetu Hospital in KCC. With additional services provided by third-party healthcare facilities for employees and dependents located in Lubumbashi and Kinshasa, as well as those referred for specialized treatment not available in Kolwezi.

Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer of Occupational Medicine and Health and Governance, the incumbent is responsible for medical surveillance activities within the occupational health service.
His responsibilities will include, among others (non-exhaustive):
- Responsible for medical surveillance activities, receiving patients for consultation for pre-employment examinations, periodic examinations, discharge examinations or special examinations, which may include clinical examinations, biological monitoring or employee medical examinations in accordance with Watu Wetu protocols and policies.
- Request or conduct various tests or examinations related to risk factors that may have adverse effects on the health of the employee or a particular job, in accordance with Watu Wetu guidelines.
- Ensure biomonitoring of exposed workers (urine, blood tests, etc.).
- Interpret the patient's results (laboratory test, audiometry, spirometry, vision screening) and compare them to standards, occupational exposure limit [OEL] or exposure limit value [ELV].
- Sign the medical certificate of physical fitness.
- Receive agents with chronic illnesses for regular and appropriate follow-up and schedule an appointment for the next visit.
- Restrict or revise restrictions for certain at-risk employees who could cause injury, fatality, or be the cause of occupational diseases.
- Perform the correct medical assessment of the patient.
- To propose to the hierarchical superior of occupational health the referral of patients to different specialists in order to improve the quality of healthcare.
- Providing advice and guidance to employees on non-health-related issues;
- The education, counseling and information of patients on health matters concerning ways to improve health and prevent disease, as well as on interventions or treatments that address risk factors.
- Complete the CNSS form relating to work accidents/occupational diseases within the required time limits and participate in their internal and external declarations.
- To be able to conduct internal audits and ensure continuous improvement of the quality of occupational health services according to international, national and company standards.
- Organize and supervise the handling of on-site medical emergencies in partnership with the chief occupational health physician.
- Designing and leading occupational health programs: prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory diseases, addiction, nutrition, mental health…
- Collaborating with the HSE and Industrial Hygiene teams for the implementation of prevention measures in the company.
- Design and participate in updating procedures related to occupational medicine and health.
- Participate in, programs or supervise the study of occupational health risks in the workplace and document them for better management.
- Provide a daily activity report on occupational health.
- Maintain harmonious collaboration and teamwork with other occupational health and medical staff in the medical care of patients in all Watu Wetu facilities.
- Maintain good communication with all departments and disciplines within Watu Wetu, stakeholders, as well as with local doctors and health facilities to ensure the smooth functioning of Watu Wetu.
- Submit performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Networking with other occupational health professionals in other organizations to discuss professional issues and conduct comparative analyses to ensure a high level of service delivery.
- Regular contact with the chief occupational health physician to discuss patient issues, policies and procedures, employee recommendations, training requirements and a collaborative approach to managing absences due to illness, etc.
- Suggest to the chief occupational health physician the training needs required to help the team meet professional requirements.
- Plan and organize daily activities in response to recommendations from Human Resources and managers, phone calls, emails, inquiries, scheduled appointments, meetings, training, and site visits.
- Ensure that complete, accurate and concise medical records and reports [in paper and digital form] are kept up to date for patients, including a duly signed, dated and legible entry in the patient's medical record for each patient's visit.
- Ensure that the confidentiality of patient information and medical records is preserved.
- Ensure that correspondence is completed within a minimum timeframe and that all correspondence is complete.
- Ensure that tasks are performed professionally, efficiently, ethically and in accordance with international standards and evidence-based medical practices, respecting standards of care.
- Ensure that all information entered into the hospital management system [Pro-Clin] is accurate, appropriate and in accordance with agreed protocols.
- Promote good professional networking in order to better understand the role of each other and to prevent interruption of communication in case of conflict of interest.
- Health, safety and environment.
- Adhere to the health and safety policies established by Watu Wetu regarding the proper management of patients during, the use of medical equipment and supplies, and the storage of chemical reagents.
- Keep staff informed of all Watu Wetu health and safety policies on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to procedures, rules and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.

- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational workshops and conferences, reviewing professional publications, building personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
- To keep up-to-date professionally and to stay informed of new and emerging guidelines and laws that govern the legal and ethical aspects of occupational health practice and to use evidence-based practice to guide the interpretation of legislative requirements and advice to ensure the protection of the health of the working population.
- To perform any other duties or responsibilities that may be required by the Chief Occupational Health Physician or the management of Watu Wetu from time to time.
- Working hours are specified in the employment contract, but you may be required to perform other tasks outside of these hours, upon request. This could include attending meetings, responding to emergencies, etc.
