Watu Wetu SAS, WW SAS in acronym, is a company under Congolese law operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the main activity of managing a medical service for businesses and A training center. WW SAS serves the companies Kamoto Copper Company SA and Mutanda Mining SARL which are its main shareholders.

The company covers the medical care of all employees of these two companies as well as their family members.

WW SAS comprises three facilities, namely Watu Wetu Clinic in Mumi, Watu Wetu City Site and Watu Wetu Hospital in KCC. With additional services provided by third-party healthcare facilities for employees and dependents located in Lubumbashi and Kinshasa, as well as those referred for specialized treatment not available in Kolwezi.

Watu Wetu SAS provides health services to a population of approximately 70,000 people.

Job Description

 

Under the direct supervision of the Occupational Health Clinic Coordinator, the incumbent will be required to perform manual or automated tests (audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, vital signs, electrocardiogram and IEC (Information, Education and Communication) in accordance with international standards [good practices], legislation, ethics, procedures and minimum requirements for operating the equipment.

 

He will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Ensure that equipment is calibrated in accordance with the requirements of occupational health regulations or law.
  • Prepare a client for the specific test or examination which may include history, information, indication or contraindication.
  • Inform customers of the testing procedure to follow and provide them with instructions on this.
  • Describe to the client all factors that may influence the validity of test results and explain how to overcome them.
  • Perform the required clinical examination before performing the specific test.
  • Identify employees who need additional testing and those who need additional equipment, materials, or tests, such as glasses, hearing aids, dentures, bronchodilator tests, etc.
  • Provide, record and maintain results in accordance with the law and Watu Wetu policies and procedures.
  • Inform the patient of the next step to take after the current examination.
  • Sign and request with the patient's signature the validity of the result.
  • Collaborate and assist occupational physicians in their daily activities.
  • Protect and periodically check occupational health equipment and ensure that all equipment is properly calibrated and has a valid permit.
  • Provide records with all required tests and examinations to the occupational health physicians office for consultation.
  • Complete occupational health activity reports [daily, weekly, monthly and annual].
  • Maintain harmonious collaboration and teamwork with other occupational health and medical staff in the medical care of patients in all Watu Wetu facilities.
  • Maintain good communication with all departments and disciplines within Watu Wetu, stakeholders as well as local doctors and health facilities to ensure the smooth running of Watu Wetu.
  • Promote good professional networking to better understand each other's roles and prevent communication breakdowns in the event of a conflict of interest.
  • Complete the daily data in the occupational health summary table (Data base).
  • Complete the tests carried out on patients in the patient's file
  • Ensure that complete, accurate and concise medical records and reports [in paper and digital form] are maintained for patients, including a duly signed, dated and legible entry in the patient's medical record for each patient's attendance.
  • Ensure that the confidentiality of patient information and medical records is maintained.
  • Ensure that correspondence is completed within a minimum timeframe and that all such correspondence is complete.
  • Particularly ensure that the tests (Vision, Audiology and spirometry) are correctly signed between the patient and the operator
  • Ensure that tasks are performed professionally, efficiently, ethically and in accordance with international standards and evidence-based medical practices, while respecting standards of care.
  • Ensure that all information entered into the hospital management system [Pro-Clin] is accurate, appropriate and in accordance with agreed protocols.

 

Job requirements.

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Be of Congolese nationality.
  • Have a Multi-skilled Nursing Diploma
  • Have a Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer tools.
  • Be registered with the National Order of Nurses in the DRC.
  • Have completed training in occupational health activities such as audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, ECG and other training related to occupational health and also in general nursing.
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in an occupational health department.
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in multi-skilled nursing.
  • Fluency in French and Swahili,
  • Willingness to write or speak English.
  • Good interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Computer literacy.
