Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI S.A.R.L is an open-pit mining site used for the extraction of copper and cobalt ores. Mutanda Mining has a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid manufacturing plant.

MUMI is recruiting a: " Production Superintendent"

Main objectives of the position

 

Under the direct supervision of the Mine Manager, the Production Superintendent is responsible for organizing and coordinating operational activities, as well as managing teams through the three Shift Production Coordinators. He/she ensures the safe execution of daily, weekly, and monthly production plans in accordance with the required quality standards.

 

Minimum qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or its equivalent

 

Required Experience

 

  • 8 years of experience in open-pit mining, including 2 to 3 years in supervisory roles.
  • Proven track record in operational leadership positions, with strong capabilities in team leadership, mentoring, and coaching, as well as confidence in interfacing with senior management.

 

Required skills

 

  • Proactive, with a strong commitment to promoting a safety-focused work culture.
  • Demonstrated willingness to build and mobilize engaged teams.
  • Solid understanding of the operation of mining equipment.
  • Good knowledge of the mining industry from both operational and technical perspectives.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in mining operations optimization.
  • Proven skills in planning and organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve safety and operational performance targets.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team.
  • Recognized people-oriented leadership, with a strong ability to train and transfer skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and a consistently positive attitude.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge or proficiency in mining planning software is an asset, but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure the daily management of all open-pit production operations,
  • Lead optimization projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives,
  • Develop, review, and implement best practices for all loading and hauling activities, with a strong focus on equipment efficiency,
  • Coordinate with short-term planners, drill and blast engineers, and operations colleagues to develop practical and executable operational plans,
  • Develop and implement key productivity improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency,
  • Oversee the safe and efficient management of mine traffic in collaboration with the Roads and Projects team, under the supervision of the Superintendent of Services and Development,
  • Achieve spatial compliance targets by ensuring strict control over excavation horizons and locations,
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed in line with operational requirements and the mine schedule,
  • Comply with Glencore’s environmental management requirements and procedures, as well as MUMI SARL’s environmental policy.
