Job description.
Reporting directly to the Director of Strategic Minerals , the incumbent is responsible for a wide range of activities covering the strategic and operational aspects of procurement, including developing and implementing category management standards and associated plans, understanding the legal clauses of supply contracts, building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, conducting negotiations and market analyses, evaluating supplier performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, maximizing value creation and compliance with risk management policies, and overseeing the daily performance of the team and the effectiveness of category management processes and frameworks.
His/Her essential functions will include, among others (but are not limited to):
1. Strategic sourcing & optimization:
• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for specific goods and services, with the aim of optimizing spending, improving supplier performance and reducing risks associated with assigned categories.
• Contract " projects by category or family of purchases in order to generate benefits in total cost of ownership, by identifying and implementing the necessary contracts and sub-contracts, while securing a supplier base that meets cost objectives.
2. Supplier & Contract Management:
• Oversee the entire supply cycle: sourcing , supplier selection, negotiation and contract management.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance according to key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintain sustainable and effective relationships.
• Analyze contractual flows and technical specifications to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop strategic negotiation plans and drive continuous improvement initiatives on quality, costs, performance and innovation.
• Implement effective supplier management processes and collaborate with operational managers to define local and category-based purchasing strategies.
3. Market analysis & risk management:
• Conduct in-depth market analyses to identify industry trends, best practices, and emerging risks.
• Leverage this information to adjust sourcing strategies, strengthen supply chain resilience and support long-term business objectives.
4. Cross-functional collaboration & compliance:
• Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and global procurement standards, including ESG and sustainability policies.
5. Support for business objectives:
• Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop long-term strategies and roadmaps, aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
6. Innovation & transformation:
• Identify and deploy innovative and agile approaches to meet business needs in a constantly evolving environment.
7. Team management:
• Develop the skills and performance of the purchasing team.
• To provide ongoing training, coaching, performance management and employee motivation.
• To foster an environment of engagement and high performance.
Job requirements.
Qualifications and experience.
• Hold a university or higher degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics or contract management;
• Have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in strategic procurement and contract management, including planning and execution of procurement strategies, complex negotiation, cost and supplier performance optimization, risk management and leadership of multidisciplinary teams in an industrial or mining environment;
• Demonstrate at least five (5) years of proven experience in a strategic purchasing or category management role;
• Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the mining industry or similar heavy industries.
• Have a valid ONEM card.
Technical skills.
• Strategic purchasing and category management: Mastery of the development and execution of strategic supply plans, the management of "Source to Contract " projects and the optimization of the total cost of ownership to maximize value creation.
• Contract management and supplier performance: Expertise in complex negotiation, analysis of contractual clauses, evaluation of suppliers according to KPIs and continuous improvement of quality, costs, performance and innovation.
• Market analysis and risk management: Ability to conduct in-depth market research, identify emerging trends and risks, and develop resilient and sustainable sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Leadership, compliance and cross-functional collaboration: Proven skills in managing multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and applying global standards for procurement, compliance, ESG and sustainability.
