KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Reporting to the General Manager of Mine Technical Services, the role of the incumbent will be to provide safe, efficient and cost-effective operational control and leadership to the Production Geology and Exploration sections. He/She will define and lead the department's strategies for exploration, resource definition, grade control drilling, underground and surface mine geology, and production estimation activities, in alignment with corporate needs, in accordance with the budget and asset life plan.
He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
1. Health, Safety, Environment, Community & Risks:
- Be an exemplary and role model leader in the proactive management of high-risk tasks, fatal risk protocols, critical controls, corporate risks and local mining regulations.
- Define and set health and safety expectations in accordance with industry best practices.
- Empower the Mineral Resource Development team to make risk-based health and safety decisions.
- Facilitate and support the safety leadership program within geology and exploration.
- Lead the development and execution of safety improvement initiatives within the business plan.
- Lead the management of contractor safety and their engagement in geology and exploration.
- Check and ensure the safe and sound execution of all activities according to schedule, planning and budget.
- Respect the importance of community, environment and safety in operations, and manage areas of responsibility taking into account the need to maintain the social license to operate, including ensuring compliance with all relevant national regulations and laws.
- Manage change and risk by applying appropriate assessment and quantification processes to ensure that the business is not deliberately or accidentally exposed to unnecessary risks.
2. Budgets, Costs & Governance :
- Define high-quality budgets and forecasts that align with the company's tactical and strategic objectives.
- Deliver budgets and forecasts according to the company's planning cycle.
- Manage operational and investment costs in accordance with budget and forecasts.
- Maintain strict cost and performance discipline through efficient mid -month and month-end financial processes. Systematically analyze expenses, commitments, and physical outputs to address variances.

- Effectively engage and manage contractors by following appropriate contractor management, procurement and invoicing procedures.
- Conduct all business in accordance with the Company's Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption and Fraud Prevention Policies.
3. Leadership, People, Development & Communication :
- Act as a leadership role model, embodying company values and inspiring managers and supervisors.
- Promote employee development through succession planning and continuing education.
- Ensure staff understand operational objectives and translate the vision into daily actions.
- Set clear responsibilities with performance indicators and provide regular feedback to measure performance.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training and development plans to ensure team members are well trained and ready to fulfill their roles.
4. Operational & Technical Excellence :
- Lead the development of mineral resources by ensuring that the necessary skills, equipment, systems and materials are available and supported.
- Implement surface and underground exploration, infill drilling and grade control strategies to support current and future production.
- Ensure that mining and processing decisions are based on reliable geological data, and implement effective QA/QC practices to ensure the quality of geological activities.
- Manage operational risks related to geological understanding and ensure effective collaboration with metallurgy to optimize ore mixes and process performance.
- Ensure the availability of drilled and delineated ores for operations, while ensuring the planning and execution of resource development and expansion programs in accordance with corporate objectives.
5. Planning & Programming
- Lead geological and exploration functions, ensuring management of associated budgets, schedules and plans.
- Ensure effective planning of grade control drilling and estimation activities to ensure adequate coverage for surface and underground operations.
- Collaborate with Mining Technical Services to integrate geological data into company objectives and ensure management of geological databases.
- Plan and manage exploration programs, track exploration expenditures and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
- Set performance standards and track continuous improvement, ensuring all opportunities and projects are well aligned with business priorities and executed correctly.
