Job description.

 

 

Reporting directly to the General Manager Asset Protection , the incumbent will be responsible for leading and coordinating strategies to prevent losses, protect assets, and ensure the integrity of integrated security and asset management systems. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance and lifecycle management of security infrastructures, while aligning risk mitigation and asset protection practices with the company's operational objectives. The incumbent will act as a key liaison between the security, maintenance, information technology teams, and management to ensure the security, compliance, and efficiency of all critical operations.

 


He/She will have, among other things, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

•    Identify operational risks related to equipment misuse, theft, unauthorized access and safety hazards at mining sites.
•    Implement security systems (video surveillance, drones, access control), and develop theft prevention protocols, particularly for high-value resources.
•    Coordinate incident response, investigate suspicious activity and collaborate with internal teams, local authorities and legal departments.
•    Support HSE compliance by integrating safety, health and environmental issues into loss risk management and complying with mining sector standards.
•    Train staff on security practices, integrated systems, and promote a culture of integrity and zero tolerance for fraud or negligence.
•    Use security data (incidents, alarms, access) to analyze trends, adjust prevention strategies and strengthen controls.
•    Oversee the lifecycle of security assets: purchase, maintenance, update, integration of physical and digital systems on a unified platform.
•    Define access management policies for sensitive areas and ensure continuous monitoring via a security operations center (SOC) for rapid response.
•    Ensure regulatory compliance, vendor management, contract monitoring, and contribute to strategic and budgetary planning in security matters.

 

Job requirements .


Qualifications and experience.

 

•    Hold a university degree in law, security management, criminology or related field (Master's degree preferred).
•    Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in loss prevention, asset management or security management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in the mining industry or other high-risk environments.
•    Proven experience in managing security operations in the mining industry or other high-risk environments.
•    Extensive expertise in risk assessment, emergency response and crisis management.

 

Technical skills.

 

•    In-depth knowledge of surveillance, access control, intrusion detection systems and their integration with IT infrastructures.
•    Skills in asset lifecycle planning, maintenance, optimization, labeling, tracking and integration across multiple sites.
•    Good knowledge of ISO standards (55000, 27001, 45001), regulatory, audit and compliance requirements in high-risk environments.
•    Awareness of cyber risks linked to connected security devices and mastery of information security requirements.
•    Expertise in vulnerability assessment, risk analysis, loss prevention strategies and incident management.
•    Experience with analytics tools to track KPIs, evaluate asset performance and support decision making.
•    Ability to coach teams, train on security protocols and align asset management with strategic business objectives.
•    Fluency in English. Fluency in French or Swahili would be an advantage.
